The first season finale of American Gods (Starz, Sundays, 9/8C) is the kind of flourish that has been set up from the opening moments of the series premiere when we learned how Odin became aware of the New World.

There are key moments for virtually every key character and several plot arcs converge in unexpected ways. It is a towering achievement television.

Mr. Wednesday Produces Second Season for American Gods!

American Gods – the elegantly odd series based on Neil Gaiman’s epic war-of-the-gods novel – has been renewed for a second season.

The series (and the novel) follows ex-con Shadow Moon and the mysterious Mr. Wednesday on a road trip across America to recruit old gods (Czernobog, Biquilz, Anubis) from many mythologies to his side for a war against encroaching modern gods (Media, Technical Boy).

American Gods runs Sundays (9/8C) on Starz.

American Gods: Mr. Wednesday Hires A Bodyguard!

Neil Gaiman’s novel American Gods takes all manner of clichés and bends them and twists them until they emerge all shiny and new. It’s a new mythology; it’s a road trip; it’s a mismatched buddy movie, and more. And it’s absolutely brilliant.

Bryan Fuller has produced legendary TV like Wonderfalls, Pushing Daisies and Hannibal – all absolutely brilliant. Michael Green, with whom he created TV’s take on American Gods (Starz, Sundays, 9/8C), has had equally wonderful shows – like Jack & Bobby, Everwood, Kings and The River.

Starz has released the opening credits for the premiere episode of American Gods – a series of mythical images given a 21st century spin.

They’re quite lovely in a moody, high-tech, glossy darkness kind of way.

There’s also a new trailer that looks at what Shadow Moon is getting himself into (that would be big trouble…).

American Gods, based on the novel by Neil Gaiman, premieres on Sunday, April 30th (9/8C).

There’s a Storm Coming Trailer: American Gods!

Starz’s adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s American Gods – a tale of the war between the Old Gods and the New – has its first trailer.

If anyone doubted that Bryan Fuller (Pushing Daisies, Hannibal) was the man to bring the book to life, this trailer puts paid to that notion – it’s brilliant!

American Gods premieres on April 30th.

American Gods #1 – Believe Everything!

Neil Gaiman’s American Gods is being adapted for television by a team led by Bryan Fuller (Pushing Daisies, Hannibal). It will undoubtedly be one of the stranger shows on TV, but it won’t be on TV for a while.

Fortunately, Dark Horse Comics has enlisted P. Craig Russell and Scott Hampton to adapt the novel for comics and we don’t have to wait – it’s coming out on March 15th.

The epic tale of a man caught in a war between the Old Gods and the New, American Gods follows ex-convict Shadow Moon as he takes a job as bodyguard to the mysterious Mr. Wednesday – a man who seems to almost know more about him than he does himself.
