I will never understand why the DCU doesn’t release some of their animated films into the theater, at least for limited engagements. I mean usually their stuff blows away a lot of the major studio releases. Looks like they are going to test the waters this summer with a one time showing Batman: The Killing Joke.

Courtesy of Fathom Events, the controversial animated film is coming to a theater near you, Monday, July 25, 2016 in select cinemas across the country. The R-rated animated film will screen at 7:30pm and 10:00 pm (local time) that night in a social screening event that will include exclusive-to-the-evening presentations before and after the film rolls.

The Fathom Events screenings will take place three days after the World Premiere of Batman: The Killing Joke at Comic-Con International in San Diego (July 22), and the day prior to the film’s release for purchase on Digital HD (July 26). Batman: The Killing Joke arrives on  Blu-Ray™ Deluxe Edition, Blu-Ray™ Combo Pack, DVD on August 2, 2016.
