Syfy has unveiled its Summer 2017 schedule and there’s only one new series (but it sounds very Roger Corman-esque). Also included: one movie, one returning unscripted series and four returning dramas – plus a return to Comic-Con for more and thorough coverage of Nerd Prom (trust me, I’m a nerd…)
The new series, blood Drive, is about the last good cop being forced into a cross country race in which the cars are fueled with human blood (very Roger Corman, right?).
The new movie is (wait for it…) Sharknado 5; the returning unscripted series is Face Off (possibly my favorite unscripted series ever).
Back for more are: 12 Monkeys (10 episodes over three nights), Dark Matter, Wynonna Earp (actually better than the graphic novel that spawned), and Killjoys.
Syfy has announced third season renewals for its Friday night space operas, Killjoys and Dark Matter ahead of their second season finales.
Killjoys wraps up its second season tomorrow, Friday, September 2nd (9/8C), while Dark Matter will run back-to-back episodes on Friday, September 9th (10/9C) before concluding its second season run on Friday, September 16th (10/9C).
Series descriptions and social media info follow the break.
The second season of Killjoys gets off to a rollicking start with Dutch and the Real Girl – Dutch and Johnny learn there’s a unique twist required to save Davin (whom we last saw in Khlyen’s base on Arkyn).
Syfy has ordered 13-epiosde second seasons for both of its Friday night space operas – Dark Matter (above) and Killjoys.
Dark Matter – which revolves around a crew of a mercenary ship who have had their identities wiped – comes from Stargate veterans John Mallozzi and Paul Mullie.
Kiljoys – following a trio of Reclamation Agents (bounty hunters) in a planetary system of terraformed moons – was created by Michelle Lovretta, who also created Lost Girl.
Both shows ended with rather mindboggling cliffhangers so it will come as a relief to many that they were renewed so quickly. The second seasons of both shows will air in 2016. For more, follow the jump.
Syfy has announced its Summer 2015 schedule and its a fairly even mix and new and returning shows plus The Son of the Return of the Monster Magnet yet another Sharknado epic.
The new shows include: Dark Matter, from Stargate veterans Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie; Killjoys, from the creator of Lost Girl and the producers of Orphan Black, and Geeks Who Drink, based on the nationwide pub trivia contest and hosted by Zachary Levi.
Returning shows include: Defiance, Dominion and Face Off. Follow the jump for series details and premiere dates.
Keeping the peace keeps them in business. Who are they? They are Killjoys – interstellar bounty hunters. For them, ‘The warrant is all.’
They will do anything to bring in their prey – in the requested condition (if possible).
Killjoys is the sci-fi series from Syfy and Space (Canada’s sci-fi network), the creator of Lost Girl, Michelle Lovretta, and the producers of Orphan Black. Killjoys premieres on Friday, June 19th at 9/8C. Check out the trailer after the jump.
Killjoys, a co-production between Syfy, Space and Temple Street Productions, has cast Hannah John-Kamen, Aaron Ashmore and Luke Macfarlane for the space opera that revolves around three fun-loving, hard-living bounty hunters in a distant system on the brink of war.
The series comes from the producers of Orphan Black and the creator of Lost Girl. That suggests an intriguing mix of elements – and a series that will probably begin by jumping into the deep end (remember the premiere of Lost Girl?).
Production begins on the 10-episode, one-hour series on August 5th with the series premiere in 2015.
