Syfy has renewed its darker than dark comics adaptation Happy! for a second season.
Based on Grant Morrison and Darick Robertson’s graphic novel of the same name, HAPPY! follows Nick Sax (Meloni) – an intoxicated, corrupt ex-cop turned hit man – who is adrift in a world of casual murder, soulless sex and betrayal. After a hit gone wrong, his inebriated life is forever changed by a tiny, relentlessly positive, imaginary blue winged horse named Happy (Oswalt).
Happy!’s first season finale airs on Wednesday, January 31st (10/9).
The only way a Grant Morrison comic could ever possibly work on television would be if he directly involved – his work is just not in the purview of the average (or even quality) TV writers/producers.
Happy! Was developed by Morrison and Brian Taylor (from the graphic novel by Morrison and Darick Robertson) – who just happens to be one of minds behind the Jason Statham hit Crank. It’s a writing marriage made in every heaven and several of the seven hells.
Syfy has unveiled its Fall and Winter schedule – include premiere dates for its adaptation of Grant Morrision’s graphic novel series Happy! and Alan Tudyk’s web series Con Man.

Syfy has ordered two Grant Morrison projects to be produced by Universal Cable Productions: first: Morrison and Brian Taylor will adapt Aldous Huxley’s classic novel Brave New World; second, Morrison and Taylor will adapt Morrison’s graphic novel – created with artist Darick Robertson.
Morrison is best know for his works in comics, with his time on Batman probably being the most famous. Darick Robertson is probably best known for illustrating Warren Ellis’ Transmetropolitan.
Brian Taylor is best known for the films Crank and Gamer.
