Scott Pilgrim is coming to Blu-ray in a pretty amazing Combo pack this November.  The Blu-ray is going to be stuffed with extras including four Commentary tracks, several featurettes, alternate takes, a feature on the music of Scott Pilgrim that includes four music videos, a look at how the special effects were created, Universal’s cool Pocket Blue app, Digital Copy and hey they even throw in a free BD Live stream of either Tremors or Pitch Black.  Full Press release after the break.

I’m still on the fence as to whether I liked this movie or not, but the Blu-ray is coming September 14, 2010.  It’s coming in a 3 Disc Combo Pack that includes the Blu-ray, DVD, and DisneyFile. Can someone decode the Press Release and let me know what this set actually includes? On the surface it doesn’t seem like much beyond 1 bonus feature, 1 deleted scene and on the 3 Disc set something called “ CineExplore: The Sands of Time Take control of the dagger and use it to unlock secrets behind your favorite scenes! Turn back time and uncover over 40 spellbinding segments – including “Walking Up Walls”, “Filming in Morocco”, and “Ostrich Jockey Tryouts”- with this exclusive interactive feature. Blu-ray puts you in control!” Check out the full press release.

Star Wars Goes Blu-ray in 2011!

Posted by   on August 15, 2010

in Blu-Ray

I was in Orlando last week and was a couple of blocks away from where the largest Star Wars event in the world was scheduled to be held. I left a day before Star Wars Fanfest V was scheduled to hit town. Impeccable timing as always on my part. George Lucas showed up this weekend and made the announcement that fans have been waiting for – All Six Star Wars are coming to Blu-ray next Fall in honor of it’s 35th Anniversary.  The set will feature the remastered versions of all six films (remastering the originals would apparently be too expensive) and contain a ton of Blu-ray extras.  As an additional FYI, for a taste of SW Hi-Def goodness, Spike TV is showing the original Star Wars films on Spike HD today (Sunday) and I’m sure it’ll be repeated later this week. I will say I’m not that impressed with the HD version of Star Wars as shown on Spike, but who wouldn’t want these films on Blu-ray?  No pricing has been announced, but expect to pay a ridiculous amount.

My favorite movie of 2010 is coming to Blu-ray in a 3 Disc Combo Pack (Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital Copy) August 3rd – on my Birthday. How about them apples?  I already emailed Lionsgate Home Video and told them, they have to give me a copy, it’s my Birthday. Did I mention my Birthday is August 3rd, feel free to send me money. The Blu-ray Disc Combo Pack kicks even harder with the same DVD special features plus a documentary length “making-of” and a feature-length “Ass-Kicking Bonus View Mode,” which give audiences an inside look at all elements of the filmmaking process.

In addition, the Metamenu Remote powered by BD Touch, another Blu-ray exclusive, will allow for iPhone OS and Android users to personalize their experience with this state-of-the-art free app. Once connected through BD-Live, viewers can select menus using intuitive gestures, find scenes by dialogue, discover details about the actors and more. With headphones, they can select to listen in alternate language tracks, or enjoy other synchronized content including portions of the “Ass-Kicking Bonus View” (which users can take “to go” on their mobile device). The high-octane phenomenon invades shelves and homes on August 3rd for the suggested retail price of $39.99 for the Blu-ray Combo Pack and $29.95 on DVD.

Hey about that? Road to Perdition is coming to Blu-ray on my Birthday. It’s not a film I particularly like because I’m not a fan of Tom Hanks, but this should look quite interesting on Blu-ray especially with all the deep blacks in it. The Blu-ray is presented in 1080p high definition with English 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio, French 5.1 Dolby Digital and Spanish 5.1 Dolby Digital with English, English SDH, French and Spanish subtitles. New bonus features include a Sam Mendes feature Introduction, A Cinematic Life: The Art & Influence of Conrad Hall and The Library: A Further Exploration of the World of Road to Perdition. It’ll also include the original DVD Commentary track from Sam Mendes, the original Making of Feature and Deleted scenes.
