Pinocchio Comes to Blu-ray! I wouldn’t Lie! Maybe.

Disney’s timeless tale Pinocchio, considered one of the greatest animated films ever made with two Academy Awards, joins the Walt Disney Signature Collection. Now it will delight a whole new generation of dreamers with its masterful animation, unforgettable characters and award-winning music. The movie which inspired the world to wish upon a star, arrives for the first time on Digital HD and Disney Movies Anywhere on Jan. 10, and on Blu-ray™ and DVD on Jan. 31 with hours of new and classic bonus features. When is Disney jumping on the 4K UHD bandwagon? Nevermind, I’d probably be salty to discover none of my Disney Movies Anywhere content will “automatically upgrade” to UHD quality anyway.

Disney’s The Jungle Book Comes Home this month and Re-Released in iMax!

JungleBook

It seems like this film just came out last month. I’m not complaining about shorter release windows, but this seems scary fast! But hey, it was April, this summer has blown by.

Audiences were mesmerized by Disney’s live-action epic adventure “The Jungle Book,” which has earned more than $949 million at the global box office to date.  Critically acclaimed, Jon Favreau’s stunning live-action reimagining of Walt Disney’s animated classic, will be available early on Digital HD and Disney Movies Anywhere on August 23, and on Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD and On-Demand on August 30.  Where’s my 4K HDR version?

They normally hit it out of the park and I expect another amazing outing with one of their more esoteric outings yet. Why can’t the film verse just put Bruce Timm in charge? Sheesh. The Hateful Eight Blu-ray Release

One of the more controversial films of 2015, Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight arrives on Digital HD March 15 and Blu-ray™ Combo Pack, DVD and On Demand March 29 from Anchor Bay. Outlander The Ultimate Edition Blu-ray Out Now!

outlander

Everyone knows how much I loathe the Pt1 and Pt2 tv season split scam – especially when it leads to multiple “season” releases of the show on Blu-ray/Digital. Outlander fans who have waited patiently for a proper full season release can rejoice. Sony Home Video has finally released the full series in a gorgeous, Limited Edition Blu-ray set. Don’t get too excited though, Outlander: Season One The Ultimate Collection will give many folks sticker SHOCK.

The $164 dollar package ($104 on Amazon), comes in a beautiful box and includes a book, engraved flask (for $164, I expect some gin or something in there), a collection of photographs, a 45-minute Outlander yule log and the soundtrack. Plus you get the full season on Ultraviolet although at that price the cheapskates should throw the iTunes version as well.

AladdinDiamondBlurayRev

It’s time for me to finally watch Disney’s Aladdin now that the classic animated film is available in glorious HD on Disney’s awesome MoviesAnywhere platform. If you are old school like me and prefer physical media it hits Blu-ray, October 13th.  The Blu-ray/HD is packed with all the standard features we expect from a Disney release – sing along tracks, a look at the Broadway production, extras from the original DVD release and more. The Blu-ray w/Digital Copy and the Digital Copy version are $19.99. Wait two weeks and get the blu-ray version, it’s a no brainer.
