I’m not sure why anyone would care about this, but Old Dogs is coming to Blu-ray March 9. I’ll admit, I thought the commercials were pretty cute. This will be on a Single Disc Version and in Disney‘s Combo packaging and looks to be a pretty full featured set with Bloopers, commentary tracks and more. Hit the link for the full feature list and Disc specs.

Disney‘s animated movie The Princess and the Frog garnered surprisingly great reviews from most critics, but I’m not sure if it was a hit with audiences. The movie comes to Blu-ray, March 16 in Disney’s Combo packaging (Blu-ray, DVD, and DisneyFile).  Special features on the disk:

  • Magic In The Bayou: The Making of A Princess — Co-writers and directors John Musker and Ron
Clements take a freewheeling, behind-the-scenes look at the making of Disney’s newest animated
film as it grows from an initial concept to a lavish animated film set in the enchanting world of New
    Orleans and the surrounding bayous.

Why is it people can’t leave well enough alone??? Netflix was one of the best services (for any industry around) but they decided to work in collusion with Warner Home Video to fuck over their customers. Last week while I was at CES the crappiest deal in history became official. Netflix will now delay all Warner Home Video new releases by 28 days. So no more getting your Harry Potters, Terminators, or whatever else WHV puts out the first week of release. I’m on every studio list to receive Blu-rays on release day so that I can review them, the only studio who has been very difficult to deal with was Warner, so I would use Netflix to review their product.  I will no longer even attempt to cover any Warner Home Video release.

Rob Zombie’s re-imagined Halloween II comes to Blu-ray January 12, 2010. Seems like a weird release date for a movie called Halloween, but who am I to tell marketers how to market their products. The Blu-ray is going to feature both the Unrated and Theatrical versions of the film, along with a commentary track from Rob Zombie. He’s one creepy guy, so it should be interesting. Check out the full press release after the break.

Watchmen Blu-ray Box Art

I finally sat down, played and beat the Watchmen: The End Is Nigh, video game this weekend. So it was pretty cool to see that they are making a sequel to the game, not only that but the full game Part 1 and 2 will be included in the upcoming Director’s Cut version of The Watchmen Blu-ray release and playable on the PS3. How sweet a package is this shaping up to be? You get the Director’s Cut of the film which includes 25 extra minutes, the full Watchmen Game Experience and Digital Copy! All they need to do is somehow squeeze in the Black Freighter and the bad Motion Comic and that would be quite a Blu-ray package. The game will also be included on the DVD version as well, so I’m assuming that version will be playable on the 360.  Other than being way too dark (fixed once I increased the brightness level) and repetitive, the game is good mindless fun with some really neat beat downs. The Blu-ray and DVD Director’s Cut will hit the streets in July.
