With its premiere on April 5, “American Odyssey” brings tv viewers through a series of twists and turns as Sergent Odelle Ballard (Anna Friel), lone survivor of a fatal massacre in North Africa, fights for her life with the help of a young boy Aslam in her attempt to get back home to her family in  New York.  On the other side of the Atlantic, activist Harrison Walters (Jake Robinson) and hacker Bob Offer (Nate Mooney) suspect that the slain soldier Ballard is actually alive. At the same time, attorney Peter Decker (Peter Facinelli) attempts to keep his family together while he continues to find clues to a corporate coverup and suppresses his guilt over the death of a person he feels responsible for.

Peter Facinelli took time to talk with reporters about his role as Peter Decker in NBC’s “American Odyssey”.

Native New Yorker Peter Facinelli got his start in acting by training at the Atlantic Theatre Company Acting School, followed by studies the renowned NYU Tisch School of the Arts.  He made his screen debut Rebecca Miller’s “Angela in 1995”, and has been a constant fixture on tv and film ever since.   Film roles include “Walter”, “The Damned”, “The Price of Love”, “An Unfinished Affair”, “Touch Me”, “”Finding Amanda”, The Scorpion King” and “Twilight”.  TV credits include “Glee”, “Fastlane”, “Six Feet Under”, “Damages”, and “Nurse Jackie”.   He played Dr. Carlisle Cullen in the popular “Twight” and its sequels.  He recently played the comedic Dr. Fitch Cooper opposite Eddie Falco in “Nurse Jackie”.

In addition to acting, Peter has stepped into the role of producer, writer, and director by forming his own production company, A7SLE Films in 2008.  He wrote the comics “Protocol:  The Orphans” to rave reviews.

From vampires to doctors, and from comedy to drama, this multi-talented actor is not slowing down any time soon.  With upcoming films through A7SLE Films in the pipeline, another novel “After The Red Rain” set to be released in August 2015, and an acting career that continues to wow audiences, we will continue to see a lot more of Peter on tv and the silver screen.

Peter Facinelli as Peter Decker in “American Odyssey”

Peter Facinelli talks about how he prepared for the role as Peter Decker, what drew him to this role, his thoughts on playing the character of Nurse Jackie’s Dr.  Cooper and Twilight’s Dr. Carlisle Cullen, and his appreciation of his fans’ support.

As the Los Angeles screening of “American Odyssey” ended in March a few months ago, my thoughts were echoed when another audience member gushed about how much she loved the pilot episode.  I wasn’t disappointed. Every Sunday, I can’t help but be drawn into each episode even more each week.  If you want a compelling story that draws you in, incredible acting, and a show that tugs at both your mind and your heart, then stay tuned to “American Odyssey” every Sunday night at 10/9c on NBC!
