The third season of Outlander will premiere in September, 2017. Not only that, but the series is moving production from Scotland to South Africa.
Catriona Balfe and Sam Heughan have posted a video on the show’s Facebook page bidding Scotland a fond farewell, though, as they note, Outlander will return in the future.
Carmi Zlotnik, President of Programming for Starz addressed the later premiere, “While ‘Droughtlander’ will last just a little longer, we feel it is important to allow the production the time and number of episodes needed to tell the story of the ‘Voyager’ book in its entirety. The scale of this book is immense, and we owe the fans the very best show. Returning in September will make that possible.”
David Berry has joined the cast of Outlander for season three – in the role of Lord John William Grey, ‘a steadfast and honorable British subject, torn between a finely-honed sense of familial duty and a strong moral compass of right and wrong.

The second season finale of Starz’s hit series Outlander takes the name of Diana Gabaldon’s second novel in the series for its title – and Dragonfly in Amber will be a ninety-minute episode that introduces two new, much anticipated characters to the saga of the time traveling Claire Randall Fraser: Brianna (Sophie Skelton) and Roger Wakefield (Richard Rankin).

Claire and Jamie begin their efforts to tamper with history and avoid the disastrous Jacobite Rebellion by journeying to France and becoming part of Parisian society – a situation that will put them at odds on occasion.
