Now You See Me 2 is an action adventure sequel following (mostly) the band of magicians known as The Horsemen from the first film who perform a series of stunts and tricks in order to further their Robin Hood motivated agenda of exposing the corrupt. In the second film of the series, the team has been in isolation for a year, a status that is starting to grate on these personalities who live for the limelight. Particularly frustrated is J. Daniel Atlas (Jesse Eisenberg), who resents the detached leadership of Dylan Rhodes (Mark Ruffalo) and brashly accepts a shady heist job. The task is to steal a computer chip with ridiculous powers and abilities from an impenetrable facility at the behest of Walter Mabry (Daniel Radcliffe) a young tech genius who threatens death lest The Horsemen fail. The Four Horsemen are back!
As you may recall, I loved the first movie and the second one seems to be suggesting that the imprisoned Thaddeus Bradley might be avenging his jailing at the hands of the four magicians, which makes me very curious (if maybe a bit less enthusiastic).
The international trailer is a zippy, flashy thing that captures the spirit and momentum of the original movie, but I have to say that I wish Isla Fisher had agreed to be in it (I love Lizzy Caplan, so I’m open to the possibilities).
Even with that one major change, though, Now You See Me 2 looks like a lot of fun. Check out the trailer after the break. Now You See Me 2 opens on June 10th.
