SYFY has announced a series order for Nightflyers – based on the novella by George R.R. Martin.
Nightflyers follows eight maverick scientists and a powerful telepath who embark on an expedition to the edge of our solar system aboard The Nightflyer – a ship with a small tightknit crew and a reclusive captain — in the hope of making contact with alien life.
Netflix will co-produce and have first-run rights to the series outside of the U.S.
Syfy has greenlit David S. Goyer’s Superman prequel Krypton and Christopher Meloni vehicle Happy! to series – and is developing George R.R. Martin’s science fiction novella Nightflyers.
Krypton sees Kal-el’s grandfather, Seyg-El (Cameron Cuffe) working to restore his family’s honor after it was ostracized.
Happy! follows corrupt alcoholic cop turned hitman Nick Sax (Christopher Meloni) as a job goes horribly wrong and he is joined by ‘a tiny, relentlessly positive, imaginary blue winged horse named Happy’ – that only he can see.
