Jesse Eiseneberg Action Hero Trailer: American Ultra

Mike (Jesse Eisenberg) is the prototypical stoner/convenience store clerk – or so it seems. When a CIA agent (Connie Britton) makes a purchase while spouting what sounds to Mike like gibberish, his first response is, ‘Is that a lyric from something?’

But when he catches two guys messing with his car, suddenly he’s Jason Bourne – and the guys messing with car (CIA agents, WTF?) are dead. When he tells his girlfriend, Phoebe (Kristen Stewart), her first response is ‘That’s awesome.’ (Clearly she doesn’t believe him.)

Now Mike and Phoebe are in a situation – life, death, the future of the world at stake, yadda-yadda-yadda.

American Ultra was written by Max Landis (Chronicle) and directed by Nima Nourizadeh (Project X). It opens on August 21st. Check out the trailer after the jump.

Twilight Saga’s Breaking Dawn Pt2 gives fans a big F.U.! Michelle’s Review

breaking-dawn-renesmee-family

It is over. You say nothing is over until we say it is over? Well, one of the worst movie franchises in history is finally over! The long national nightmare  ends not with a bang or a thud but with one of the biggest FUs in Cinematic history.  The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 can almost be admired for telling people – “You know what, we’ve made our money off you clowns and we just don’t care anymore.” The issue with this movie is what it has always been – the two lead characters are completely selfish, self involved, depressed – even though they are supposed to be “happy”, and as horrible in death as they are in life. (Warning MAJOR Spoiler in the last sentence of this review!)

The Twilight Saga Trailer Hits and gets over 3 Million Views!

The Twlight Saga Trailer hit the nets yesterday and garnered over 3 million views on it’s official YouTube page. I officially hate Kristen Stewart – not as a person, she’s a terrible actress and I think she’s trying to hard to be “alternative.” I once said Orlando Bloom comes across as a vapid California surfer boy who desperately wants to be a “serious” actor. That sums up Stewart. Anyway, in case you missed it here is the trailer. What will help this movie? 3D.

MOVIE REVIEW: Michelle Reviews Twilight: New Moon and declares she’s Team Jared!

newmoonbellaedward

It’s hard to believe that my first movie review in months is this. The sad thing about Twilight: New Moon is that I went in with very low expectations and found the movie to be ok, but here’s the thing – Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) is loathsome and not aware how insipid, self involved, narcissistic and whiny she is. When she yells at her vampy boyfriend, with the weird ruby lips Edward (Robert Pattinson) to “take her soul,” I laughed out loud – what soul? The really sad thing is on the one hand she knows she’s broken – but the reason isn’t because she’s shallow and treats everyone around her like garbage – this fact doesn’t even enter her mind. No it’s because the love of her life broke her heart. Yet every male she comes into contact with instantly falls in love with her – the werewolf, Jacob (Taylor Lautner), her human male friend – the long suffering Mike (Michael Welch) and her father Charlie (Billy Burke) all try and help her and she just dismisses them.

BLU-RAY REVIEW: Adventureland Review

Adventureland Blu-ray Review

When I was at the University of Wisconsin, I was offered a summer job to work at Six Flags Great America in Chicago. It only paid $7 an hour and I had no place to live but it would have been a pretty neat experience. I was going to do it, but I let my friends talk me into staying in Madison for the summer because we had tickets for Janet Jackson’s Rhythm Nation tour.  The Janet concert sucked, it was a good summer anyway, but I’ll always regret not going to Chicago to do that job. Watching Adventureland makes me wonder what would have happened if I took that job. From the guy who brought us the awful, vulgar Superbad comes a surprisingly sweet little movie about a pretentious College grad played by Jesse Eisenberg who finds the love of his life at a crappy little Amusement park. The movie features two newly minted superstars Twlight’s Kristen Stewart and Ryan Reynolds.  The problem with the movie is, there’s no chemistry between Stewart and Eisenberg and none of the other characters felt real to me.  Miramax did a nice job on the 1080p transfer. I can’t find any fault with the picture quality it’s crisp and clean, the colors are vibrant but look a bit washed out in spots.  There audio is 5.1 DTS-HD in English and Dolby Digital for the French and Portuguese – two odd choices for alternative language tracks. The Subtitles are in 18 different languages. I didn’t like the menu navigation at all; it’s really bright and busy.  The movie has a great soundtrack but the audio mix sounded somewhat muted.

COMIC-CON NEWS: Twilight Storms the Room

newmoon2

Comic-con kicked off with a bang this morning with the stars of Twilight giving a 9:30 am press conference to hordes of screaming fan girls everywhere. They camped out for days and got there wish as Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner took center stage.  Reporters weren’t allowed to ask any personal questions and all the questions had to be related to New Moon.  Here are a couple of tidbits:

  • Even though Edward hardly appears in the movie he will still make appearances via “hallucinations.” “It would look probably pretty cheesy if it were just my voice, so they’ve done these hallucinations, semi-visible apparitions,” Pattinson said, explaining how he’ll be visible even in his character’s absence. “It’s how she remembers him, not necessarily how he actually is,” added Stewart.
  • “There are definitely fans who separate into separate teams.Sometimes it gets me nervous because I’m trying to live up to the fans expectations and represent Team Jacob in the right way,” Lautner said. “I thought they did a pretty good job with the wolf transformation… The werewolves definitely step up the action in this movie. There’s double the action in this movie,” Lautner assured the crowd. He adds, “There’s not just this romance between a human and a vampire. There’s also the beginning of a love triangle.”
