SundanceTV’s The Red Road Gets Season Two!
The Red Road – SundanceTV’s second scripted drama series – may have started out with more potential than anything else, but it found its feet and became a very good show. Now it has been given a second six-episode season and, as someone who was on the fence about the show after its premiere, I’m […]
The Red Road – Better Than Average with Hints of Brilliance!
The Red Road (Thursdays, 9/8C) is the second original scripted drama from Sundance TV (formerly Sundance Channel) and it is as ambitiously broad in scope as Rectify is in its intimacy. The series boils the travails of a well-to-do small town and a federally unrecognized tribe of Native Americans down to the efforts of the […]

DVD REVIEW: Stargate Atlantis: The Complete Series – Edgier Then the Original; More Fun Than the Latest Flavor!
Stargate Atlantis premiered as the original Stargate series, SG-1, was going into its eighth season. It was immediately darker than the original – there was a key death in the premiere, and the alien race they encountered, the Wraith, didn’t require technology to suck the life from their victims. There was also the possibility that […]
TELEVISION: Stargate Atlantis/Stargate Universe – Just Some Thoughts
The news came out, this week, that Stargate Atlantis was being cancelled in favor of one or two annual direct-to-DVD movies – the first one to wrap up the series’ final storyline – and where have we heard that one before? Still, the puzzling thing is that the series is being cancelled after its ratings […]
DVD REVIEW: Stargate Atlantis: The Complete Fourth Season: Wraith, Replicators and Pregnancy!
One thing you can say about the Stargate franchise – it may rarely reach brilliance, but it’s equally rarely less than fun. Season four of SG Atlantis found Torri Higginson’s Dr. Elizabeth Weir leaving her command for a pretty good reason – to keep the Replicators from destroying Atlantis. In her stead, the Atlantis Expedition […]
