Television: Sneak Peek Vids & Artwork for Supernatural Season Five Finale S5.22 Swan Song

Ladies and Gentlemen, Fans and Viewers alike, Supernatural Season 5 has now reached the top of the last hill. Now the season finale, Swan Song is poised to take the wildest plummet into excitement yet as Sam Winchester (Jared Padalecki) gets ready to take on Lucifer (Mark Pellegrino). Of course Sam has some pretty heavy hitters on his side including his brother Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles), Castiel (Misha Collins) who may yet have one more spark of angel mojo left in him and veteran hunter Bobby Singer (Jim Beaver).

Supernatural S5.22, Swan Song airs this Thursday May 13th at 9 PM EST and according to series Creator Eric Kripke is the culmination of his 5 year story arc. An arc that began back in the pilot episode of season one when Sam reluctantly agreed to reunite with his older brother Dean for a few days to find their missing father, John Winchester (as played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan). A few days turned into a permanent reunion as Sam returned to his college apartment to find that his live in love Jessica (Adrienne Palicki) had been killed in the same manner as Sam and Dean’s mother Mary Winchester(as played by Samantha Smith) had been killed when they were children. Dean and Sam’s fate are set in motion again by these events that lead them on the road in their black ’67 Chevy Impala to ‘hunting things, saving people: the family business”.

Eric Kripke promises that this storyline, which has taken a lot of twists and turns filled with psychic children, angels and demons will be tied up and finished in S5.22 Swan Song and Supernatural will have a whole new story for the upcoming season six. So while we wait for Swan Song to air this Thursday, let’s take a look at some sneak peek artwork and vids provided by the good folks at The CW Network & Warner Bros Television.

With the airing of last night’s Supernatural episode S5.21 Two Minutes to Midnight, the hit CW Network series starring Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles and Misha Collins made it to the top of the season five hill. Now comes the exhilarating rocket ride to the end of the season finale episode S5.22, Swan Song, which airs this coming Thursday, May 13th at 9PM EST.

Of course the foreboding sound of finality to the title leaves one wondering if Supernatural creator, Eric Kripke knew that the series was going to be renewed for a sixth season before he came up with it. That’ll be a good question for convention attending fans of the this dynamic action series to asked the stars next time they see them.

Meanwhile, while viewers and the fans wait for the ultimate ending of Supernatural season five, the good folks at The CW Network have provide a teaser clip and a promo clip of S5.22 Swan Song to get everyone excited about the Winchester brothers showdown with Lucifer to try and put him back in his box.

Television: CW Network Shares Stills From the 100th Episode of Supernatural

I might be mistaken, but I think that the CW Network/Warner Bros might be just a tad bit excited about the airing of hit series Supernatural’s 100th episode tonight (4.15.10) at 9PM EST. Ok so they might be a lot excited about it and with good reason too!

Supernatural, which stars Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles as Sam and Dean Winchester — two monster hunting, ghost vanquishing, demon fighting brothers who roam the back roads USA back roads with a trunk load of weapons in the black ’67 Chevy Impala — has, with the help of its loyal viewing audience and fans, continued to defeat the dreaded ratings monster for 5 straight seasons and 100 episodes.

Television: Advance Review of Supernatural 100th Episode, S5.18 Point of No Return

In a continuation of the party celebrating the milestone 100^th episode of the hit CW Network series, Supernatural, the good folks at Warner Brothers have sent out a little party treat to some of us journalist types: an advanced look at the S5.18 Point of No Return.

As we saw back in last week’s episode, S5.17 99 Problems, a totally frustrated and mentally and emotionally exhausted Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles) has begun to think the only way to stop Lucifer and save the planet is to say yes and become Michael’s vessel. Which in turn has his brother, Sam Winchester (Jared Padalecki) deeply worried and looking for a means to keep Dean from making that decision and all of this is widening the rift between the two of them. In my opinion the reason the rift between them is widening is because Dean doesn’t care about what’s going on anymore or about the consequences of saying yes to Michael and he is leaving Sam feeling like he has no back up in his own battle to stay strong against Lucifer.

In the pivotal 100^th episode, S5.18 Point of No Return directed by Phil Sgriccia and written by Jeremy Carver, the Winchester brothers find out that unbeknownst to any of them, the angels have been coming up with a shocking and horrifying “Plan B” to bring about the final days of the apocalypse. Together with Castiel (Misha Collins) and Bobby (guest star Jim Beaver) Sam and Dean put aside the widening rift between them, as much as they can, and prepare to take on Zachariah (guest star Kurt Fuller) in a desperate attempt to prevent the beginning of the end on Earth. The episode also sees the return from the dead (in true Winchester fashion) of Dean and Sam’s half brother Adam Milligan (Jake Abel).

Without giving too many spoilers away, here’s what I have to say about the 100^th episode of Supernatural.

Hollywood Insider: Eclipse Chats With Traci Dinwiddie on Her Surprise Return to Supernatural for Season 5

“I wanted it to be a total surprise for you all, but someone spilled the beans!”

That’s Traci Dinwiddie’s reaction when I contacted her to do an interview with her on her return to Supernatural as Pamela “best damn psychic in the state” Barnes after her character’s demise in the S4.15 episode, Death Takes a Holiday.

The “bean spiller” of course was the publicity department for the CW Network who sent out the promo blurb for S5.16 Dark Side of the Moon which announced her return guest appearance along with several other favorite Supernatural characters who have passed into the ‘great beyond’.

It’s no April Fools Day joke when fellow hunters track and kill Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) as retribution for starting the apocalypse. The boys are surprised to find themselves in Heaven and with Castiel’s (Misha Collins) help navigating Paradise, they begin searching for information about God’s whereabouts. In the meantime, Zachariah (guest star Kurt Fuller) continues his intense quest to find the brothers and force them to accept their destinies as Lucifer & Michael’s vessels. Additional guest stars include: Colin Ford as ‘Young Sam,’ Samantha Smith as ‘Mary Winchester,’ Chad Lindbergh as ‘Ash,’ Traci Dinwiddie as ‘Pamela,’ Roger Aaron Brown as ‘Joshua’ and Bones the Dog as ‘Casey.’ Jeff Woolnough directed the episode written by Andrew Dabb & Dan Loflin.

Traci Dinwiddie’s first appearance as Pamela Barnes was in the S4.1 episode Lazarus Rising when Bobby Singer (Jim Beaver) takes the Winchester brothers to her in search of some answers as to who pulled Dean out of hell and returned him, fully restored, to life. The character of psychic Pamela Barnes was smartly crafted, well written and most importantly cast with the talented and charismatic Dinwiddie in the role. All of which served to make the character a rarity in universe of Supernatural—a female character that many of the viewers and the fans embraced with enthusiasm. Pamela’s demise in the latter part of season four was met with dismay, but now she’s back for another round of adventure with the Winchester Brothers and Eclipse has an exclusive chat with Traci Dinwiddie on that return—well as much as we could pry out of her without letting any spoilers slip. Ah to live in fear of the Kripke!

Television: Hungry Heart Gets a New Meaning – Commentary on Supernatural S5.14 My Bloody Valentine

Breaking News: The CW has announced today (2.16.10) that the hit series Supernatural starring Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles and Misha Collins has been given an early renewal for a a 6^th season. However the good news for fans and viewers of the show has been tempered by information coming out that series creator Eric Kripke is stepping down from his duties as show-runner on a day-to-day basis in season 6. Those duties will be turned over to executive producer Sera Gamble. Gamble has been with Supernatural since season 1, coming on board first as a writer than taking on executive producer duties as the seasons progressed. Kripke along with Robert Singer will both continue on with the series in their roles of Executive Producers and will still have a hand in the direction of the series. Word also has it that Kripke will also be using his time to work on a new project for Warner Brothers.

“Cupid, draw back you bow and let your arrow go straight to my lover’s heart for me.”

That’s a line from a very popular Valentine’s Day themed love song, but in Supernatural S.14 My Bloody Valentine (written by Ben Edlund and directed by Mike Rohl), it seems to have a very sinister and deadly consequence. Or does it? That’s what Sam (Jared Padalecki –who is getting married in two weeks to the lovely Genevieve Cortese aka Ruby 2.0) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) Winchester are at first led to believe by the Angel Castiel (Misha Collins) who is convince a Cupid (Lex Medlin, whom I have to say is one confident man) has gone rogue and is killing the lovers it first unites. Castiel tells them that a cupid is actually a lower level cherub and not incontinent. Nor, as we find out are they “little dudes with wings and a diaper”. The one in is this episode is a full grown, robust looking man with the gentle playfulness of an over eager puppy. It becomes apparent to both Winchesters and to Castiel that the whimsical cupid is not the one setting lovers up for the kill and they also quickly discover that it isn’t just hungry hearts that are dying, other people with other hungers are falling victim as well.

Television: Continuity Where for Art Thou? – Commentary on Supernatural S5.12 Swap Meat

High school nerd Gary (guest star Colton James) conjures up a body-switching spell and changes bodies with Sam (Jared Padalecki). Thrilled by his new handsome and well-built body Gary (now Sam) investigates a case with Dean (Jensen Ackles) and takes advantage of Sam’s good looks and age by hitting on women and getting drunk. Meanwhile, the real Sam is stuck inside Gary’s teenage body, dealing with intrusive parents and high school.

Before we get into the commentary about Supernatural S5.12 Swap Meat and why I feel that this episode suffered from a lack of a certain necessary continuity, I want to talk about the big Supernatural news that happened this past weekend.

I’m talking about the big party they had up in Vancouver, B.C. on Saturday to celebrate the filming of Supernatural’s 100^th episode. Yes Supernatural is 100 episodes old and still going strong and that is quite an accomplishment for the offbeat genre show on a struggling netlet that everyone thought wouldn’t last more than two seasons. Of course we here at Eclipsemagazine.com have always known that Supernatural had what it takes to be a success; great writing, directing, producing and most of all two very talented lead actors in Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles who have made Sam and Dean Winchester two of the most compelling characters on television today. So a big CONGRATULATIONS to Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, Eric Kripke, Sera Gamble and the rest of the Supernatural creative team (the late Kim Manners most definitely included) on this milestone success and here’s to more success to come. ‘Kick it in the Ass!’

Now, let’s move on to my commentary about Supernatural S5.12 Swap Meat.
