This week, fans of Judge Dredd, and other fine 2000 AD comics and graphic novels who use Android-based devices, can avail themselves of the 2000 AD app.

The app can be downloaded through the Google Store making the publisher’s catalogue of classic graphic novels available wherever and however you to read them

Even better, with the new log in system, readers who buy comics in the 2000 AD iPad and Android apps can download copies of them, DRM-free, from the 2000 AD Webshop. For details, follow the jump.

This week the legendary British anthology comic unveiled the app, available to download through the Google Play store, which means that 2000 AD, Judge Dredd Megazine, and our large selection of classic graphic novels are available however and wherever readers want.

And thanks to the new log-in system, users who buy comics in the 2000 AD iPad and Android apps can now download copies of them, DRM-free, from the 2000 AD webshop.

The Android app complements the app for iPad and iPhone which has been a roaring success since it launched in 2012, becoming one of the top-grossing iPad newstand apps in the UK and bringing 2000 AD ‘Thrill-power’ to new readers everywhere.

The app gives users the chance to purchase 2000 AD and the Judge Dredd Megazine on the same day they hit newsstands in the UK. They can also subscribe and receive up to three months of back issues, as well as access a vast number of collections of classic 2000 AD strips.

With the launch of the Android app and the new purchase system, readers are now able to buy comics in our Apple and Android apps and then download – free of charge – DRM-free copies of those purchases from our online shop as PDF or CBZ files whenever and onto whatever device they like.

The final stage of development will allow purchases from our webshop to be downloaded into the Apple and Android apps.

Jason Kingsley, CEO of 2000 AD’s owners Rebellion, said: “Our iPad app has been a great success and proved there’s a big market out there for digital 2000 AD. The Android app has also been the ideal time to roll out the function that allows app users to download DRM-free copies of their purchases from our shop, so they’ll no longer have to choose between in-app or DRM-free comics again. This is the next leap forward for 2000 AD, which will introduce the Galaxy’s Greatest Comic to a whole new readership!”
