Rio, from director Carlos Saldanha [the Ice Age Trilogy], is a fun romp in Rio de Janeiro at Carnivale time. It’s an engaging film that is mostly set in a detailed Brazilian jungle that uses 3D to exceptional advantage.

New Cowboys & Aliens Trailer – Exactly What It Says on the Tin!
There’s a new trailer for Jon ‘Iron Man’ Favreau’s Cowboys & Aliens. It gives us a bit more of an idea of the plot and a better feel for Favreau’s defiantly uncampy approach. I like it. I like it a lot.
First Look: Fox’s First Trailer for Rise of the Planet of the Apes!
Pierre Boulle’s famous novel, Monkey Planet, gave rise to a franchise that just would not go away – spawning Planet of the Apes, its theatrical sequels and the Tim Burton remake [and a related videogame]; a live-action, primetime TV series and an animated Saturday morning series. So, why on earth would anyone think yet another […]
Go Behind The Scenes On THOR!
Like a lot of movie buffs who’ve mostly enjoyed the transition of Marvel superheroes to film, I was intrigued by the trailers for Thor and turned off by its clumsily designed rash of posters. This behind-the-scenes featurette has won me over. check it out!
Fright Night Remake Looks Great!
In a world where… movie remakes are common but good remakes considerably less so, the upcoming remake of horror/comedy classic Fright Night is looking better and better with every bit of new information released. Hanna Updates the Brothers Grimm for the 21st Century!
When you think of the name Joe Wright, you think of period pieces like Atonement and Pride & Prejudice – not action flicks that twist fairytale themes into something the Brothers Grimm would approve of. You certainly wouldn’t expect him to do it so well, either, but Hanna is an absorbing, hugely entertaining movie.
Michelle finally Reviews a Movie – Your Highness!
James Franco is a weird actor. He’s one of those guys who seems like he’d be cool to hang out and have a beer with, but as an actor always lacked that certain something. With Pineapple Express he seems to hit upon the Sean Penn stoner gimmick which he milks again with the adventure/comedy Your […]

Relativity Media, whose Limitless was their most recent success, has announced plans to reboot The Crow, based on the cult favorite comics series by James O’Barr. The feature is to be directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, the highly regarded directed of 28 Weeks Later and Intacto. The press release follows the jump.
Soul Surfer’s Remarkable True Story Surmounts Sports Movie Clichés!
Soul Surfer hits pretty much all the standard sports movie clichés – but it has the benefit of a superb cast, an unusual subject sport and a knack for mostly avoiding becoming ham-fisted in its treatment of faith.
New Green Lantern Shots!
Every Hollywood Summer flick needs to have a game attached to it. Green Lantern is no different. Featuring the voice and likeness of Ryan Reynolds (in the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions), Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters allows players to assume the role of Hal Jordan to battle the Manhunters—a once noble android police […]
