I originally wanted to write this entire article in the 3rd person, but seeing how it is an exclusive interview with Italia Ricci the star of one of my favorite summer shows, Chasing Life, it didn’t quite work. This season April saw her Cancer go into remission, finally got married to Leo (Scott Michael Foster), then her cancer came back, find out secrets about her father and lose Leo. It’s been a real roller coaster season. I had a quick call (meaning 5 mins, so of course I didn’t ask everything that I wanted 2) with Italia and talked about this season.
On Why the show is popular even though it is at times depressing
Italia loves playing April. It’s a complex role that let’s her show a full range and she’s learned so much about life playing this part. While the show can be depressing at times, people like it because it shows them that no matter how hard their life may be, they are not alone.
On Leo’s Death
It was sad to see him go, but Italia thinks it was a good way to do it because it showed April that death can happen at anytime and it’s time for her to start living her life.
On April and Dominic

I did tell Italia that I’m not a fan of the April/Dominic (Richard Brancatisano) pairing. According to Italia, April’s not really in a good place to have a relationship and that it’s too soon. She clearly still has feelings for Dominic but wants him to wait until she’s ready and it’s a struggle for her to figure out when to move on.
April in Rome?
Italia loved filming in Rome (who wouldn’t!?). They shot on location for 8 days. April is in Rome because that’s where she and Leo had planned to go on their honeymoon and it’s a place that April has always wanted to go to.
On The Summer Finale
There’s a lot going on in the summer finale. April gets to visit Rome. The whole family is put into a bad position because Olivia has decided to publish their father’s book. We’ll get to see a new, old friend come back into Brenna’s life (if you read our review with Haley, you’ll know who it is). We’re going to find out more about Beth’s pregnancy and we’ll see a whole new side of April.
