TV Recap: Gossip Girl, Episode 3.5, Rufus Getting Married

GOSSIP GIRL

Did you know there is now a company that does Gossip Girl tours of New York? It’s from the same company that does Seinfeld and Sex and the City Tours. I think I’m going to have to give it a go in the next few weeks.  Anyway onto Gossip Girl, this week’s installment looks to be all about Georgina and I really don’t like the character or Michelle Trachtenberg. Let’s see how it goes. The name of this week’s episode is Rufus Gets Married.

Season 3, Episode 5 – Rufus Getting Married

Show opens with all the couples in Love, aww…. Dan’s new girl is off on a publicity tour. Blair and Chuck have a double lunch date with Nate and Bree, of course Blair hates her. I’m sorry but Joanna Garcia does not fit this cast. Chuck offers to help Bree get Carter. Georgina is back and obsessing over Dan. Vanessa tells Georgina that she’s crazy and that Dan is seeing someone else. She then proceeds to blackmail Vanessa into getting Dan to break up with his new squeeze.  Rufus and Lilly are fighting and getting close to splitting up. Didn’t they elope last year?  The kids plot to get Rufus and Lilly together. You see this is the proper use of Jenny and Eric; I really like those two characters, I just don’t want to see them at Constance.

Vanessa’s feeble attempt at breaking up Dan is funny stuff. He thinks she’s in love with him and when he shows up sees her photo shopping pictures with Olivia and another guy. There’s another great Lilly/Rufus moment when they finally come together. But again, I’m confused because I thought they eloped at the end of last season, which is why they were together over the summer and living in Lilly’s house. We’re a 1/2 hour into this week’s episode and no Vampire Diaries commercial? It feels odd…

Dan tries to stop Georgina from ruining wedding by telling her he still loves her. She doesn’t buy it. Chuck tries to bribe Carter to leave town. Lilly is nervous about her vows. Carter tells Serena the truth about his relationship with Bree how he used her sister for money and then ran off. Doroda and Blair’s moment was funny, when Blair tells her, “Next time remember Mr. Chuck has a helicopter.” Georgina shows up at the wedding. Lilly has cold feet. In the middle of their argument Scott (Psycho Boy, I tell you) shows up and Lilly asks “Who do you think you are?” He storms off then Georgina delivers her blow. da, da, dum!!!  We’re 45 minutes in and still no Vampy Diaries? Wow, is it a repeat week or something?  They really are hyping the heck out of that stupid Stepfather movie. Showed the trailer 3 times already.

Blair and Dan go to confront Georgina but then walk away with Blair on the phone -this isn’t the end, there will be reprisals. Rufus and Lilly track Psycho Boy down and beg him to give them a chance. Really nice and touching family moment, but I still tell you he’s going to go Psycho!  Lilly and Rufus finally, finally get married. Lilly and Serena share a moment and reconcile. For some reason Vanessa isn’t at the wedding. Chuck comes to Carter’s defense and Nate is upset that Bree used him to get to Carter. I’m a sucker for nice guy Chuck. Oh, come on!!!! The way they get rid of Georgina is DUMB!

Episode Comments

I didn’t have high hopes, but I really enjoyed this episode – other than the Georgina scenes, it really clicks this week. I really liked Blair this episode, Chuck was great as usual, I’m finally buying into the Serena/Carter relationship, I loved all the Humphrey/Bass family moments. I don’t understand why Vanessa wasn’t at the wedding – since she’s an honorary Humphrey, it seemed odd, Dan mumbled something but I didn’t hear him. I still say Scott is going to go Psycho at some point. The way they got rid of Georgina in the last minute is awful, but if she stays away and they bring back Hilary Duff I’ll be happy.

  1. Have any other GG fans heard about an online reality show called "under the arch"? I caught the trailer on Youtube and am liking what I see… It follows the lives of actual NYU students and looks just about as real as you can get. Anyone else have info on it? Like when it will launch? If you haven't seen it, you can check it out here… http://www.youtube.com/user/UndertheArchTV & http://underthearch.tv
