TELEVISION: American Idol Does Rat Pack Tonight

Adam Lambert

Ok, I know I keep saying I’m through with this show, but there’s nothing else on television on Tuesday nights. What am I going to do? Watch Reaper? No, no matter how much I try I can’t get into that show and the fact that it’s doomed doesn’t make me want to make an emotional investment in it. Tuesday night is pretty much me complaining about how crappy Idol is and then watching a Blu-ray movie – tonight I’m going to watch Quantum of Solace. But before I get bored by that, I need to be bored by Idol. It’s Rat Pack night tonight, lets watch these crummy Idols sap all the fun and life out of these songs.  So the top 5 is Adam Lambert, Matt “Justin Timbrerlake Wannabe” Giraud, Kris Allen, Allison and Danny Gokey. Wow, what a bad line up, I think tonight should benefit Matt the most that is assuming he actually sing the songs in the Rat Pack style but he won’t, none of them will. Once again, I have to ask what is the point of these theme nights if the contestants don’t have to at least sing the song’s in the appropriate style? Of course it’s the idiot Judges fault because they are always, “you have to change it, make it your own.” Translation, turn it into some crappy, sappy, safe elevator musiq.  I really hate Idol, but I can’t turn away, there I’ve said it and admitted it. I’ll say how much I hate this show for the next 3 weeks but will watch it because I’m invested in it and because there’s nothing else to watch.  I don’t think I’ll do an Idol Tweet tonight, but I’ll post a recap.

  1. The author of this article sounds like a complete drag. You must be fun to hang out with at parties!

  2. I'm a lot of fun at parties – after a few drinks and a karaoke machine. But that doesn't mean that Idol is a crashing bore this year and no one looks like they actually want to be there. Where's the fun in Idol this year?

  4. Please do us all a favor and DON'T watch it. Really, if you hate it that much, read a book. That way no one will have to suffer through your hack of a recap.

  5. Oooohh! Michelle! Great Adam Lambert pic! Adam for the win!

But I have to second the above sentiments. Surely, you have something better to do with your valuable time then to be "invested" in a program that you dislike?

  6. No, I really don't, I'm currently reading an X-Files Fanfiction on my Kindle, I could do that. But then who am I to deprive you of my half baked, half hearted, error filled Idol recap? I watch because I'm an eternal optimist, I keep hoping they'll bring the fun back. I love Rat Pack music, I love Disco, I love Motown, but somehow they manage to ruin each genre they tackle. But I hold out hope that this will be the night I go "Wow, dog, that was amazing."

    1. You won't be depriving me of anything! I won't be reading! Enjoy your fanfic!

  7. No, if I write it you'll read it you won't be able to help yourself, it'll be like a trainwreck you can't turn away from. The curiosity alone will drive you to read it. Just like how I feel about Idol.

  8. Watch it, don't watch – do what ever you want. who cares? Just do us a favor – find something else to write about. O.K.?
