The Legend of Tarzan is a sequel. When it begins, the film assumes the audience knows the basics of the classic tale (although a series of brief summative flashbacks also serve as a reminders)—Tarzan was an affluent infant after his family survived a shipwreck, only to succumb to the dangers of the jungle shortly after his birth. Tarzan, Edgar Rice Burroughs’ immortal jungle hero is returning to the big screen in The Legend of Tarzan, starring Alexander Skarsgård as John Clayton III, Lord Greystoke, and Margot Robbie as his wife Jane.
Years after Clayton has returned to civilization, he is invited to the Congo as a trade emissary of Parliament but he’s being used as a pawn – or so Christoph Waltz’s Captain Leon Rom believes.
