VIZ Media Nabs Manga Nominations For 2015 Eisner Awards!

All You Need Is Kill, Hello Kitty, Master Keaton and One-Punch Man have earned Eisner Award nominations for VIZ Media.

All You Need Is Kill, Master Keaton Vol. 1 and One-Punch Man earned the publisher nominations for Best U.S. Edition of International Material – Asia, while Hello Kitty, Hello 40: A Celebration In Forty Stories was nominated in the Best Publication for Early Readers category.

The Eisner Awards, named for pioneering comics writer/artist Will Eisner, are the comic books/graphic novels equivalent of the Oscars® and are awarded at the annual San Diego Comic-Con International. For further details, follow the jump.

Early Masters: Naoki Urusawa’s Master Keaton!

Naoki Urasawa has had a long and illustrious career as a creator of original, thoughtful and action-packed manga like Monster, 20th Century Boys, 21st Century Boys and his reworking of Osamu Tezuka’s Astro Boys for an older audience, Pluto: Urasawa × Tezuka. He’s done action-adventure, psychological thrillers and even romantic comedy.

Master Keaton – an answer to Indiana Jones and other pulpy heroes – may have a story (and a very good one, at that) by Hokusei Katsushika and Takashi Nagasaki, but it’s Urasawa’s art that elevates it from very good to classic.

Naoki Kurosawa’s Espionage Manga Master Keaton Comes To North America!

Master Keaton, a tale of ‘cold war intrigue and espionage,’ from the creator of Monster and 20th Century Boys, Naoki Urasawa, is getting its first North American release on December 16th.

Taichi Hiraga Keaton, an archeology professor and part-time insurance investigator known for his successful and unorthodox methods of investigation. His day job and his background as a former member of the SAS give him a unique ability to uncover secrets and thwart would-be bad guys.

The 12-volume series has never been published in English until now and each volume will be given the deluxe treatment – including eighteen pages of full color art. Master Keaton will be published quarterly by VIZ Media under the company’s VIZ Signature imprint.

VIZ Media Releasing English Edition of Naoki Urasawa’s Master Keaton!

Master Keaton, by Naoki Urasawwa (Monsters, 20th Century boys), is finally getting an English edition. The first of the 12-volume manga series is scheduled for a December release by VIZ Media. Each volume will feature 18 pages of full color and will retail for $19.99 US/$22.99 Canadian as part of the VIZ Signature imprint.

Originally published between 1988 and 1994, Master Keaton chronicles the adventures of archaeology professor/part-time insurance investigator and former member of the SAS, Taichi Hiraga-Keaton as he ‘uses his knowledge and combat training to uncover buried secrets, thwart would-be villains, and pursue the truth.
