Apparently, I’m one of the few people in the entire world who liked the first season of Marvel’s Iron Fist – more than Daredevil and Jessica Jones. I recognize the main flaw of the series was the lead character himself Danny Rand (Iron Fist) played by a sort of vacant Finn Jones, but I’m not sure what people expected out this series. The character has never been a top tier Marvel hero and has always been pretty weird and introspective, so the show captured that aspect fairly well. What made Season One work for me were all the side stories and the family dynamic between Rand and his childhood friends Joy Meachum (Jessica Stroup) and her brother Harold Meachum (David Wenham).
Iron Fist Season 2 features Danny Rand (Finn Jones) as he fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist.
Most non-comics fans have no idea who Danny Rand/Iron Fist, but Netflix has taken a few moments to introduce everyone to the character in a new video, quaintly entitled, I Am Danny Rand. It’s a pretty good overview.
Netflix has released the first photos from Marvel’s Iron Fist (Danny Rand, played by Finn Jones, above) – giving us our first look at Colleen Wing – the martial arts expert who become a valuable ally to Danny Rand, and Joy and Ward Meachum – the brother and sister who have been running Rand Enterprises and stand to lose control of the company when Danny reappears..
Netflix’s final Defender, Iron Fist, made his debut at New York Comic-Con 2016 as the show’s first teaser trailer was screened.
There are few glimpses of K’un-Lun – the Shangri-la-like hidden Asian community where Danny Rand (Finn Jones) was the only white person to learn their martial arts and achieve the ultimate skill – the Iron Fist. We do see, briefly, Lei Kung, his teacher.
In what appears to be a signature bit in Netflix’s Marvel series, there is what looks like Danny’s taking on a corridor full of opponents. (It looks pretty spiffy).
Iron Fist premieres on March 17, 2017. check out the teaser after the break.
