The second season of Netflix has been announced in a new video in which the show’s cast re-enact/pay homage to the opening credits from the 1975 original.
Unlike another revived/sequelized sitcom at Netflix (*cough*FullerHouse*cough*), the new One Day at a Time is not just a great sitcom, it’s proof that revivifying an old show doesn’t mean it has to be limited by the constraints of the original.
In this case, the new series is – at the very least – a match for the original in virtually every way.
Norman Lear’s classic sitcom One Day at a Time has been re-imagined for the 21st Century – the tale of a newly single mother and her family is now the story of a Cuban American family.
The mother, a military veteran, and her two strong-willed millennial kids get some not-always-appreciated support from her old school mom and their building’s super.
The stellar cast includes Rita Moreno, Justina Machado, Stephen Tobolowsky, Todd Grinnell, Isabella Gomez and Marcel Ruiz.
One Day at a Time premieres on Netflix on January 6, 2017. The trailer follows the jump.
