Scott Borchetta, President/CEO of Big Machine Label Group – home to Taylor Swift, Rascal Flats, Reba and more – has joined American Idol XIV as mentor.
Borchetta’s Big Machine Records will partner with 19 Entertainment and Universal Music Group to oversee the launch of the American Idol XIV winner’s recording career. For further details, follow the jump.
American Idol XIV premieres on FOX on Wednesday/Thursday, January 7 & 8, 2015.
FOX has set the dates for its winter premieres for new scripted shows Backstrom (January 22nd), The Last Man On Earth (March 1st) and Weird Loners (March 31st) – and unscripted World’s Funniest Fails (working title) (January 16th).
Returning scripted shows include Glee’s final 13-episode season (two-hour premiere on January 9th), The following (two-hour premiere on March 2n) and Bones (March 26th). Unscripted returnees include Masterchef Junior (January 6th) and Hell’s Kitchen (March 3rd).

The entire panel of judges – Harry Connick Jr., Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban – along with host Ryan Seacrest are aboard for American Idol XIV. I hope this doesn’t mean we’re still getting tons of cutaways to J-Lo during what are supposed to be the real highlights of the show: the performances. I also hope it doesn’t rain this summer. Doesn’t mean it’s not going to happen.
