“Under the Tuscan Sun” is the story of a recently divorced Calif. woman who impulsively buys a rundown villa while vacationing in Italy. Part travelogue, part soap opera, it is a nice starring vehicle for Diane Lane. Pleasant but disconnected. GRADE = “C+”

Saw this movie last night and I really liked it. It’s a refreshing sentimental story apart from all those damn sequels. Good performances from Chris Cooper and Jeff Bridges. It’s not great, but it really just feels good at about this time. I recommend it for this weekend.

“Freaky Friday” is the updated remake of a film from 1977, which has also been remade as a tv-movie. This is a pleasant summer family comedy with good performances by all. GRADE = “B”
