“Because of Winn-Dixie” is a ‘family’ movie about a young girl (Opal) and her adjustments to moving to the small community of Naomi in Florida with her preacher father. The title refers to a dog who ‘adopts’ her. Good performances (especially by Annasophia Robb as Opal) and there are some messages. GRADE = “B”

“The Wedding Date” is a romantic comedy about a young woman who decides to hire an attractive man to pose as her boyfriend at the wedding of her younger half-sister in England. The attractive cast does its best in this slight film. (Probably will seem longer than its 90 mins.) GRADE = “C+”
