MOVIE NEWS: AMC Theater’s Best Picture Showcase Marathon

MOVIE News: AMC Best Picture Showcase

Do you think you love movies?  Let me ask again, do you LOVE movies?  Well, I have a deal for you.  The folks at AMC Theaters, this Sat. Feb 21, are going to have an all day 11 hr marathon showing all five Oscar Nominated Best Picture films.  For $30 you will get to see Milk, The Reader, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Slumdog Millionaire, and Frost/Nixon.  The ticket fee includes a large popcorn with unlimited refills – that’s a lot of bathroom runs.  This event will be held at 97 theaters throughout the country.  For you DC Natives, it’ll be held at AMC Hoffman Center 22, AMC Potomac Mills 18, and AMC Tyson’s Corner 16. Check out http://www.amctheatres.com/ to find a theater in your area. The event starts at 10:30 am with Milk and all five films will be shown back to back with Frost/Nixon (a movie I hated) at 9:45.   Check out my Twitter Feed at http://www.twitter.com/eclipsemagazine, I’m going to attend and catch the first two films and will try and do some live updates from the event and maybe even do a live running commentary throughout all the films. I can see it now – “man Sean Penn looks thin,” “I just can’t get past Spicole,” “Do we really need another Nazi film as best picture?” etc.

  1. Thanks for the info, Michelle. Unfortunately, I’m already ‘booked’ for that day.

Am looking forward to Watchmen. Heard that there is some controversy over how long it will be. Have you heard what the current runtime might be?

  2. I’m going too : ) but I’ll be in Gtown. Will be bringing my computer, so i’ll check your Twitter in between shows. I’ve seen every film except ‘Milk’ and i’m looking forward to it.

  3. I have seen most of the films with the exception of Slumdog, and I was really looking forward to the AMC Showcase but I will be off on a ski retreat. I’m so disappointed now I’ll be waiting until the DVD release for Slumdog next month.
