“Salem” is just weeks away from the season finale. As season 2 premiered April 5, we watched as the witch wars continue to heighten. Mary Sibley (Janet Montgomery) meets her match as a new witch, Countess Marburg (Lucy Lawless) threatens those around her, including her long lost son John (Oliver Bell) while John Alden (Shane West) returns to Salem and learns he had a son with Mary. Cotton Mather (Seth Gabel) and Anne Hale (Tazmin Merchant) forge a new romance. Tituba (Asheley Madekwe) betrays Mary. Shane West took time to talk with reporters about season 2 of Salem.
Shane West moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting at fifteen, struggling until he made his acting debut on “Picket Fences” in 1995. He continued to make appeance in such shows as “Buffy The Vampire Slayer”, and “Boy Meets World”. His breakout role was as the teen heartthrob Eli Sammler in “Once And Again”. From there, his acting career continued to catapult in such roles such as Michael Bishop in “Nikita” and Dr. Barnett in “ER”. In addition to his numerous roles on television, he also is known for films such as “A Walk to Remember”, “Liberty Heights”, “What We Do Is Secret”, and “The League of Extraordinary Gentleman” to name a few. He won the Teen’s Choice Award for best actor in “Nikita”. When he is not acting, he writes songs and performs with a punk rock band.
From sweet teen heartthrob to brainy doctor to multi-lingual secret agent, and now a 17th century witch hunting Puritan, this versatile leading man has no bounds as what he can tackle next.
Shane points out John Alden is more focused this season, particularly on revenge. He also discusses the powers John attains after his spiritual transformation and how fight choreography in a period piece like “Salem” is different compared to his previous show Nikita.
