NBC announced this morning that shock jock Howard Stern will be the new judge for season seven of America’s Got Talent – for which, the show will move to New York. Even I, who loathe reality TV and the seemingly infinite number of ‘talent’ shows out there, might just have to check this out when the show returns. Might be fun.

Justified Returns In January – We Have Clips!

In two short seasons, Justified [FX, Tuesdays] has become one of the best shows on television – garnering an Emmy for Margo Martindale for her season two antagonist Mags Bennett. Like The Sopranos and Deadwood before it, Justified mixes folksy and sophisticated in ways that are practically Shakespearean.

FX has released four clips in support of the show’s third season – which premieres on Tuesday, January 17th. Check out the remaining three following the jump.

NBC Announces Mid-Season Schedule!

Things begin to get interesting in January as NBC premieres its mid-season schedule. Included in its four new series are: the highly regarded [and for good reason – the pilot is delightful] Smash [pictured above]; The Firm – sequel series to the Tom Cruise movie adaptation of John Grisham’s novel of the same name; Are You There, Chelsea? – the sitcom based on the memoir by Chelsea Handler, and Fashion Star – a reality series set [surprise!] in the world of fashion.

The schedule also sees new timeslots for Whitney, Up All Night, Rock Center with Brian Williams and Harry’s Laws. Other returning series include: The Voice, 30 Rock, The Celebrity Apprentice and Who Do You Think You Are?

There’s no mention of the parallel worlds/procedural/family drama Awake, which has one of the best pilots of the 2011-2012 season. Color me very disappointed.

Follow the jump for night by night details.

Comics Legends Present Steed & Mrs. Peel – A Six-Issue Mini-Series From BOOM Studios!

Details are scant but BOOM Studios – home to comics adaptations of such top franchises as Farscape and The Muppets – has acquired a six-issue miniseries based on the British hit series The Avengers.

Written by Grant Morrison [a leading force behind DC Comics’ recent reboot] and drawn by Ian Gibson [Judge Dredd, The Ballad of Halo Jones], the miniseries presents new adventures of The Avengers most popular duo, John Steed and Mrs. Emma Peel. The miniseries premieres in January, 2012.

Beyond the featured poster, though, that’s all we know, but as a longtime fan of the British Avengers, I’m hoping for something wonderful here.
