BRAVO MEDIA GREENLIGHTS TWO SCRIPTED PILOTS “MY SO CALLED WIFE” AND “TRUE FICTION” FROM UNIVERSAL CABLE PRODUCTIONS | NBCUniversal Media Village

NEW YORK – September 22, 2015 – Bravo Media continues its commitment to scripted programming, announcing it will shoot two scripted pilots from Universal Cable Productions.  The dark comedies include “My So Called Wife” (working title) from Adam Brooks (“Definitely, Maybe,”) and Paul Adelstein (“Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce”) following a female con-artist and “True Fiction” (working title) from Brian Dannelly and Michael Urban (“Saved”) about a professor desperate for her next hit who steals her late student’s manuscript.  This announcement comes on the heels of the network announcing the season two pick-up of scripted comedy “Odd Mom Out.”  Bravo’s first scripted series, “Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce,” is slated to return for a sophomore season later this year.

“As Bravo expands in the scripted space, we are committed to exploring worlds and characters that are distinctly different from our established slate,” said Lara Spotts, Senior Vice President of Development for Bravo Media.  “‘My So Called Wife’ and ‘True Fiction’ take us on wild rides as dramatic as they are funny — with one being a quest to uncover the truth and the other a mission to hide it at all costs.”

“Joining Bravo on their journey into scripted programming with ‘Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce’ has been an amazing experience as we watched the audience connect with characters we love,” said Dawn Olmstead, Executive Vice President, Development, Universal Cable Productions.  “We are excited to partner once again with Bravo to deliver distinctive and thought-provoking storytelling, this time with the stellar teams of Brian Dannelly and Michael Urban behind ‘True Fiction’ plus Adam Brooks and Paul Adelstein on ‘My So Called Wife.’”

“My So Called Wife”

Written and executive produced by Adam Brooks and Paul Adelstein for Universal Cable Productions with Brooks set to direct.

A dark comedy following Ava, a master-of-disguise con-artist who gets men and women to fall in love with her, marries them and then disappears with their money and just enough dirty inside information to guarantee they will never go to the police. But things get complicated when she falls in love with her latest mark, and three of her last victims join together to track her down.

“True Fiction”

Written and executive produced by Brian Dannelly and Michael Urban for Universal Cable Productions with Dannelly set to direct.

A once best-selling novelist turned prestigious East Coast college professor has been struggling with her much anticipated, and embarrassingly belated follow-up book.  But the sudden death of her most arrogant and hated student creates an opportunity for her to claim his manuscript as her own. She is haunted by whether to take credit for his work and finally get her career back on track or come forward with a rapidly unraveling truth that is juicier and more scandalous than any work of fiction.
