APPLE NEWS: Sirius Playing Games with iPhone App Pricing!

I have Sirius in my car and I’ll admit at first I didn’t like most of the original music stations (at least their “hits” stuff), they always had pretty esoteric playlist, I am enjoying it more now that they use XM for their 80s, hits, and 90s stations. But what the heck, no more all Disco, or Old School Hip Hop. Anyway the new Sirius XM iPhone app is out today and it’s going to cost you, but the pricing is a mystery since Sirius isn’t UPFRONT about how much it’ll cost. You go to their website and all it says is you can get a free 7 day trial. It ticks me off when company’s pull crap like this. Before you register for any “free” trial the Price should be listed on the Registration page.

Take a look at this and tell me if you think they aren’t trying to hide the price?  Not only that, but I recently got an email from Sirius telling me I’m going to have to pay an additional $2 a month to cover Radio Royalties, so my service will now be, $15.00 a month.  From what I read months ago, to use the iPhone Radio app they are going to charge an additional $4.00 a month if you already have Sirius and I think $16.00 a month if you don’t have it. Now don’t hold me to this pricing, because I don’t know for sure, I just remember reading about it months ago when they first announced the app. And I’m not going to go around registering for something, just to see how much the darn thing is going to cost. Who am I kidding, I’ll get it because it is a really slick app and hey I’ll be able to favorite all my favorite stations and it’s a whole lot prettier than the piece of overpriced crap Sirius radio I have in my car. How about a little honesty in pricing, for once?

  1. HA! It's no secret – it's been the same price for a long time: $12.95/month for a "Stand Alone" Premium Online Account (no satellite radio required). And $2.99/month if you add Premium Online streaming to your Satellite Account. The App is FREE dude – and you log into it using your Username & Password for Online. The free trial you are talking about is for online…
