Rizzoli and Isles (TNT, Mondays, 9/8C) returns for its final season with a two-hour premiere as the Boston Police Department seeks Alice Sands for the shooting that put Nina Holiday (Idara Victor) in the hospital.
Of course, since life carries on, there’s another case – the seeming accidental death of a university student when her car leaves the road on a curve.
TNT’s Rizzoli & Isles (Tuesdays, 9/8C) returns tonight with a visit from IAD when Frankie shoots a man but the guy’s gun cannot be found. It’s a case of a lead in a murder leading to something else entirely.
The Platform opens with Jane (Angie Harmon), Frankie (Jordan Bridges) and Vic (Bruce McGill) chasing a man with a yellow streak in his hair. They follow him into a subway station where they lose him. A shot rings out. Cut to one day earlier…
TNT has ordered an 18-episode sixth season for Rizzoli & Isles, its hit series based on the bestselling mystery series by Tess Gerritsen. After five seasons, Rizzoli & Isles continues to be one of basic cable’s Top 5 scripted dramas.
The series stars Angie Harmon as hard-headed, brilliant detective Jane Rizzoli and Sasha Alexander as smart, impeccably dressed medical examiner Maura Isles. In their case, opposites fight crime together.

The summer’s overall ratings are in and TNT is officially the network of summer, with six of the top ten series – Rizzoli & Isles, Major Crimes and The Last Ship led the charge with the most total viewers.
Everyone at Rizzoli & Isles is devastated by the news of the passing of Lee Thompson Young. We are beyond heartbroken at the loss of this sweet, gentle, good-hearted, intelligent man. He was truly a member of our family. Lee will be cherished and remembered by all who knew and loved him, both on- and offscreen, for his positive energy, infectious smile and soulful grace. We send our deepest condolences and thoughts to his family, to his friends and, most especially, to his beloved mother.
Rizzoli & Isles, Major Crimes and Perception join Falling Skies as the core of TNT’s summer 2014 schedule. All four series have placed in the top ten basic cable dramas.
For Rizzoli & Isles it will going into its fifth season; both Major Crimes and Perception will be in their third seasons. Falling Skies was previously given a fourth season order. For more details, the official press release follows the jump.
