The Truth about Everything – Chapter 25

Chapter 24

“Grandfather, we must discuss this matter.

“What matter, my grandson, you taking on the kingship? You know that it is inevitable, do you not? I will not live forever you know.

Francis shook his head. “This wasn’t meant for me, this was meant for my father.

Louis shook his head. “He didn’t want it either, Francis. Charles ran from me and we couldn’t locate him for years. We finally received word that he had moved to England and began a new life with a new name. No one knows where he has disappeared to and no one is going to try.

Francis looked at him. “I am too young and inexperienced in the ways of kingship, Grandfather, I need more time.

“You do not, my boy, the King said. “You have had plenty of time and training. He looked at him. “You will accept the crown this morning, Francis, you and Marie and we will work from that moment. Do you understand?

“But Grandfather?

Louis shook his head. “No arguments. I wish to live a little longer, long enough to see at least one of your children.

Francis smiled and nodded. “Alright, Grandfather, anything that you say. I will inform the court physician of your decision.

She ran down the steps to get a little glimpse for she had a funny feeling she knew who that rider might be..
