A relative unknown, British actor Henry Cavill [The Tudors, Stardust], has been cast to play Superman/Clark Kent in Zack Snyder’s upcoming take on the archetypal Big Blue Boy Scout of superheroes.
Snyder is quoted as saying, ‘In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time, and I am honored to be a part of his return to the big screen.’ He also noted that Mr. Cavill was ‘the perfect choice to don the cape and S shield.’
Warner Brothers has scheduled the Snyder Superman movie for a December, 2012 release. The screenplay was written by David S. Goyer [Batman Begins], based on a story by Goyer and Christopher Nolan [Inception]
