Zhang Yimou’s The Great Wall is the first Chinese big budget movie that is targeted at a global audience. It has a number of Chinese stars and one major American star and tells a story that brings East and West cultures together in an uncomfortable co-operation against a foe that, should it feed enough, could put the entire world at risk.
With The Great Wall Zhang Yimou has become, in essence, the Chinese Cecil B. DeMille. He’s constructed an epic adventure with a cast of thousands. If the plot and dialogue aren’t always brilliant, the scale of the story and the action definitely make up for that – and it looks amazing!
After all the whitewashing talk, it turns out that Matt Damon plays one of several heroes in Zhang Yimou’s The Great Wall – which also stars Jian Lian, Andy Lau and Pedro Pascal – as shown in a Chinese poster I found online.
A new trailer was screened today at New York Comic-Con 2016. Check it out after the jump.
The long wait is nearly over – Mark Damon and Paul Greengrass have, once again, teamed up for another thrilling Jason Bourne movie (called Jason Bourne – in a stunning example of less is more marketing).
Check out the trailer after the jump. Jason Bourne opens on July 29th.
Mark Damon stars as astronaut Mark Watney in Ridley Scott’s adaptation of The Martian by Andy Weir. During the Ares Mission to Mars, a storm forces the crew to abort the mission and, believing Watney to be dead, leave without them.
With scant supplies, Watney has to figure out a way to contact mission control and then survive until help can arrive.
The Martian will be in theaters on October 2nd. Meet the crew of the Ares Mission following the jump – then check out the first full-length trailer!
