Mr. Link is a nice guy – very erudite (though his penmanship isn’t great) – but he’s alone.
Tired of living a solitary life in the Pacific Northwest, Mr. Link recruits fearless explorer Sir Lionel Frost to guide him on a journey to find his long-lost relatives in the fabled valley of Shangri-La.
From the makers of Coraline and Kubo and the Two Strings, Missing Link will be in theaters on April 12, 2019.
There’s something about Laika. They make animated films (Coraline, ParaNorman, The Boxtrolls) that are for the whole family, yet never feel like they’re either talking down to children or talking over their heads – while providing plenty of substance for adult viewers.
Kubo and The Two Strings looks like it could be another instant classic with its vaguely origami-like animation and epic quest. Kubo, guided by the magically created Monkey, seeking out his father’s armor to save his village and solve the mystery of his missing father.
Check out the new trailer for Kubo and The Two Strins following the jump. it opens on August 19th.
Laika, the company that produced the brilliant Coraline and fine ParaNorman, releases The Boxtrolls today. Sadly, while outdoing the first two in terms of technical wizardry, The Boxtrolls assembles a host of familiar elements with only one lead character and two minor ones really ever coming to life.
