2012’s Magic Mike was a left field smash loosely based on Channing Tatum’s experiences as a ‘male entertainer.’ It was smart, witty and filled with intriguing characters – not to mention some amazing dancing.
Magic Mike XXL has all of the above except for the smart and the witty. The guys are still kinda fun, but the script really seems rushed and thin. Of course, most of the target demo will only be there for the dancing and stripping, but if they want anything more, they will be disappointed.

One of the more surprising hits of the last couple years, Magic Mike – loosely based on Channing Tatum’s days as a stripper – was not only a great little indie, it performed like a blockbuster. Obviously a sequel was called for.

Sony Pictures Classics has released a new trailer for Foxcatcher – the tragic true story of John DuPont and the Olympic gold medal wrestlers Mark and Dave Schultz, directed by Bennett Miller (Capote, Moneyball).
Foxcatcher is slated for a November 14 release and has amassed a lot of critical buzz for all three leads – Channing Tatum, Mark Ruffalo and Steve Carell (I saw it at the Calgary International Film Festival where it closed the festival to much applause) . Check out the new trailer after the jump.

There’s a creepy new trailer for Sony Pictures Classics’ Foxcatcher that looks the relationship between Olympic wrestling Gold Medal winner Mark Schultz and John du Pont, who invites Schultz to move to the du Pont estate to help train a team for the 1988 Seoul Olympics – and how Mark’s older brother Dave soon becomes du Pont’s obsession, leading to murder.

NBC has ordered six episodes of Bear Grylls’ new celebrities in the wild series Running Wild with Bear Grylls. Each week, Grylls will take a different celebrity into the wild for 48 hours. Celebrities set to take part are: Tom Arnold, Zac Efron, Tamron Hall, Deion Sanders, Ben Stiller and Channing Tatum.

Love ‘em or hate ‘em, you’ve got to respect the way the Wachowskis just go for it full tilt with their movies. The new three-minute trailer for Jupiter Ascending is as epic as anything we’ve seen – and by that, I mean Channing Tatum with elf ears and a cast that includes such respected genre figures as Sean Bean (Game of Thrones), Eddie Redmayne (Les Miserables), Maria Doyle Kennedy (Orphan Black) and Terry Gilliam (!!!).
