Student Video

Thought you guys might find this interesting…
Educators and police are taking a closer look at a student-made video of teens engaged in high-risk behavior, such as jumping from roofs, to see if any laws have broken. The 54-minute video, titled “Riot” aired on a Web site the students created to showcase their antics. In addition to jumping from a roof, the video includes scenes of a boy shooting a staple gun into his arm, and another teen vomiting on a dead squirrel while his friends urged him on. The teens deny their video is an attempt to copy the controversial MTV stunt show “Jackass.” That show was heavily criticized last year when a Torrington boy tried to copy a stunt and set himself on fire. “One kid had a camera and started doing skits, writing out screenplays. Then more people got involved, and it might’ve gotten crude,” said Nancy Sylvester, who’s son Kyle is the Web master for the group. She said many of the shots are staged. Sophomore Trent McKinney said he has practiced jumping off his roof many a time before being videotaped. “It does hurt, especially on your legs. But I did it so many times, I perfected it. I know how to do it now so I just let my legs give out,” McKinney told The Hartford Courant. “It’s fun, I like the adrenaline.”
I don’t have any kids… but I’m fairly certain if any of these belonged to me, they would have a hard time sitting down for a while… and I personally think that one boys mom/dad/parents are the ones who committed the crime if they were aware he was jumping off the roof on purpose….
