Oh my god, heck has frozen over! Star Wars will be available on Digital HD! Not in some far off Galaxy, but this Friday? Whaaaaa???? Today is the day for me to say “I Hate Myself.” I’m getting sucked into the dumb iWatch hype and now this? Maybe I do have more money than sense. I mean really, I already have these burned in Letterbox AND Full Screen HD, as well as the Han Shot First Bitches SD Version. But I want the official version and I love Disney’s Movies Anywhere, buy this once and it’ll be available across multiple platforms including UV with bonus material. This set will include most of the bonus content from the recent Blu-ray release and two new features. The bundle is available for pre-order on Vudu for $89. I don’t see the bundle listed on iTunes yet – just the individual titles for $19.99 each, but I’m sure it’ll be available as a iTunes bundle later today.
As anticipation builds for the December release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the first new film in the Star Wars Saga in a decade, The Walt Disney Studios, Lucasfilm Ltd., and 20th Century Fox today announced the upcoming release of The Star Wars Digital Movie Collection. For the first time ever, all six epic films in the Saga, from The Phantom Menace to Return of the Jedi, will be available on Digital HD throughout the galaxy – or at least here on Earth – globally beginning Friday, April 10.
“We’re thrilled that fans will be able to enjoy the*Star Wars*saga on their digital devices wherever they go,” commented Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy.*”These films broke new ground in technology, design, sound, and visual effects, and we’ve created some very special bonus material which delves into the saga’s rich history, including new and never-before-released conversations between legendary*Star Wars*artists — the masters who helped George bring his iconic universe to life.”
