I wanted to love this movie. in the end, i liked it. But the director is known for his surprise endings. and this time the surprise is that the movie isn’t about what you think. The basic premise is really just a plot device to get you down to the real movie.
I found these movies in conflict with each other. A thoughtful film, or a space thriller, depends on what interests you more.
I did think it was slow paced, but mel gibson’s performance as a grieving widower, was spot on.
