Developer of PostNuke Dies

Greg Allan a.k.a. Adam_Baum, the lead core developer and one of the four founding members of the PostNuke CMS Development Project passed away from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. The accident occurred June 16, 2002 near his home in Meaford, Ontario in Canada. Editor’s Note – This is totally off topic, but deserves a mention on this site, as EM is run on a software package that I’m one of the co-devs on called Xoops. Xoops is based on Nuke and PN, so it’s only right that I awknowledge the untimely passing of someone who has contributed a lot and did so freely to the open source movement.

Greg Allan was a humble and personable man who always downplayed his considerable skills. He was a self-taught coder who contributed to every aspect of development from cleaning up other people’s code to writing new and innovative software. Greg was an invaluable asset to the PostNuke development team, and a dear and trusted friend and co-worker to people on every continent. Through this first year of PostNuke’s existence, Greg’s giving nature has been a guiding light and inspiration to many people and projects that have shaped the development landscape and social personality of the PostNuke project. Surviving Greg are his parents, Bob and Leone Allan, his girlfriend Kim and her two children Kristin and Kassandra, his dog Chevy, and trusted friends Dean and Natasha. In memory of Greg and out of respect for all those mourning his passing, all PostNuke development and official support activity has been suspended for one week. We urge all those using PostNuke to post a copy of this article on each of your PostNuke-Powered sites to commemorate the memory and accomplishments of Adam_Baum. No one has officially started a Scooby thread. I decided since I may be going to a screening tommorrow that we should have some good discussion of the movie. First off, for the uninitiated, Scooby-Doo is/was a TV show about a group of 4 friends and a dog and how they have to fight monsters and recover jewels and such. Scooby-Doo is the dog and he is the one that the show and movie are named after. The movie details can be found at this link:

Now for the conversation! 😀

To Have and To Hold Chapter 35

Chapter 35

“It hasn’t been that for years, it’s de Barbarac now.” Colette squinted against the sunlight in her eyes. She looked up and smiled.

“Edmond?” she asked, “Edmond du Lac?”

Edmond bowed. “At your service, milady.” He straightened out and laughed. “Yes, Colette, don’t seem so surprised. You know that my brother and I grew up in this province. He jumped down from the horse and reached out a hand to help her up.

“And I would think that you’d know that I have already married again, Edmond. “ She took his outstretched hand and got to her feet, reluctantly. “Thank you,” she said. It took a while for her to regain her balance. What was wrong with her? She thought. Had she fallen asleep or was she just tired from being up all night.

“It is true, I had forgotten,” Edmond laughed, then grew serious. He looked at the front of her gown. “Madam, it appears that your gown is soiled. It seems that there is mud all over it. Are you all right? How did it happen?”

It took a minute for Colette to focus on him, now that she was standing. Look what he’s wearing, Colette thought, looking at him up and down. He looked like some soldier.

“Oh that little thing? Of course you realize that I have fallen in the mud.”

“Have you?” Edmond asked. “You were right, I should have known. Anyway, you look lost. May I help you on your way?”

Colette smiled. She pointed toward the manor. “I only live right there,” she said.

“Well then,” Edmond said, smiling. He took her hand. “We should get going.”

They began to walk.

“I thought that Emil left the chateau to you. I thought that where you would be. Not here.”

Edmond smiled. “Well, how can I be in two places at once. I must stay here and perform my duties.”

“Duties? Why Edmond whatever are you talking about?”

Edmond didn’t answer her just yet. He turned to look at her face, then turned his gaze forward. There in the distance, he could see three people waiting for him. He smiled and kept right on moving.

But he continued on remembering his mother’s words and he swore on her grave that he would not let her death be invane and he would turn the world upside down to have his Sarah.

After his mother died part of her went in him too and so Jareth had some of her character within him too. Though his father’s side had grown much and his mother’s side was seen little. Yet his own integrity kept alive and his hope did too.

He wanted to make everything good, he gave back all the other kingdoms to their original royal families and decided to stay king of the Goblins and the Labyrinth and that is how his career as the Goblin King began. He knew that would lead Sarah back to him as well and so he played the role of taking children and making them go through the Labyrinth.

It was all part of the rules of the game. Day after day , child after child. Ball after ball, royal engagements after royal engagements. Many fae women had come and gone but none were able to steal Jareth’s heart away. Many tried and many failed for his heart belonged to Sarah. His loneliness took a toll on his kingdom for he was always too busy to really take care of it. He was always angry, ready to send everyone to the Bog. A very feared place.

Many years had passed and Jareth aged a bit. He had become a man now and his powers had grown throughout the years.

He had become a feared king but only those who truly knew him knew he had a soft side, but only for the one he awaited for. Every day he made his trip to Aboveground looking for a sign of Sarah and finally about the time his mother mentioned he felt a surge of power. He knew someone has been reading the book his mother had made for Sarah. He knew the time had come. He decided to make preparations and to visit Sarah.

Following the power surge he went Aboveground to find her. He was ready for his Sarah, he had years of planning and he was ready to conquer her love remembering not to give up. Not to falter, not once. He flew and flew and found her. Sarah and her beautiful face, her beautiful she looked. She was as he remembered her. He flew over her overlooking at her. “Chick Flick”

Looks like there are a variety of definitions
for the term “chick flick”, some which are
very negative.
My definition is NOT derogatory, rather
implies that the film is designed for or
has a subject matter that will appeal
to women. I guess there should be
“guy flick” for something like
Private Ryan – which would be for
primarily men.
PERHAPS, you can come up with
one or more terms that will show
the difference between a “put-down”
and a recommendation (or maybe

You Thought I Wasn’t Looking

this was given to me by a guy at work and i thought i’d share:

When You Thought I Wasn’t Looking
(written by a former child)

A message every adult shuld read, because children are watching you and doing as you do, not as you say.

When you thought I wasn’t looking, I saw you hang my first painting on the refrigerator, and I immediately wanted to paint another one.

When you thought I wasn’t looking I saw you feed a stray cat, and I learned that it was good to be kind to animals.

When you thought I wasn’t looking, I saw you make favorite cake for me, and I learned dthat the little things can be the special things in life.

When you thought I wasn’t looking I heard you say a prayer, and I knew there is a God I could always talk to and I learned to trust in God.

When you thought I wasn’t looking, I saw you make a meal, and take it to a friend who was sick, and I learned that we all have to help take care of each other.

When you thought I wasn’t looking, I saw you give of your time and money to help poeple who had nothing and I learned that hose who have something should give to those who don’t.

When you thought I wasn’t looking, I saw you take care of our house and everyone in it and I learned we have to take care of what we are given.

When you thought I wasn’t looking, I saw how you handled your responsibilities, even when you didn’t feel good and I learned that I would have to be responsible when I grow up.

When you thought I wasn’t looking, I saw tears come from your eyes, and I learned that sometimes things hurt, but it’s all right to cry.

When you thought I wasn’t looking, I saw that you cared and I wanted to be everything that I could be.

When you thought I wasn’t looking, I learned most of life’s lessons that I need to know to be a good and productive person when I grow up.

When you thought I wasn’t looking, I looked at you and wanted to say, “Thanks for all the things I saw when you thought I wasn’t looking.”
