how could it be a terrible ripoff of the Odyssey when it was inspired by it and didn’t have the goal of retelling the classic tale? of course, we could see the symbolistic sirens, the blind prophet, the various monsters…but its not like Joel Coen was in any trying to revisualize Homer’s epic in another time period.
also, the humor in O Brother is genuinely fantastic…subtle, overt…very classy. thoroughly enjoy this movie…and the music. tho, i am a country boy.
