The hot young cast of MGM’s upcoming horror flick Jeepers Creepers 2, literally rolled into town, on a custom made attention grabbing tour bus. Nicki Aycox (Slap Her She’s French, Dark Angel, Ed, Momentum) , Travis Schiffner, Garikayi Mutambirwa (Clock Stoppers), and the very talkative Al Santos (Gross Point) seemed to be in great spirits, and having a good time on this nationwide promotional tour. And believe it or not, the tour bus didn’t smell “”gamey”” after all that road time. Here’s what they had to say about the flick.
EMLet’s start the interview with, what can you tell us about the movie. Who wants to start?GK[laughs] I’ll start! The movie is about a bunch of kids who are stuck on a high school bus. Championship Basketball Players, Cheerleaders, and coaches, when the bus breaks down in the middle of nowhere the Creeper go after them. EMWhat character do you play?GKI play Double D, the Captain of the Basketball Team, averages 39 points a game in 12 minutes.[Everyone laughs and says it’s a lie, no way did he average 39 points in 12 minutes]EMHow did you come up with your research?GKWell it was right there in the script, that he was that good, loyal, honest, humble, sincere…. EMHow well did you guys get along during the shooting?ASWith the exception of Nicki, who has a tendency to cause trouble, [everyone laughs] we got pretty well. EMHow long have you guys been on the bus?NAWell GK and I have been on the bus since August 3. This guy [points to Travis] just came on board last night, so we still have to do some initiation hazing with him. interrupting….ASI’ve been on board for a couple of days doing 30 cities in 21 days.EMSo what made you guys want to do the movie?AS[Points to Nicki] Right here, Nicki Aycox. They told us she was going to be in it, and we all signed on right away. We were actually going to do it for free, but we paid to be in the movie.NAIt’s a nice movie that has a great advantage because the first film did really well, now we have more money and time to do stuff.ASYeah, what she said. They took more time with this one. The story line, plot, why the Creeper is there is explained.EMWhy do you feel there is a need for a sequel?ASThe first one left a lot of loose ends that this one ties up.EMHow close is your personality to your character?ASAll characters are piece of you. But we all played people who are pretty far from what we are really are like.EMWhat would you say are the major differences?ASI’m lying to you, there are absolutely no differences.NAAlec has chosen not to see the film until the premiere, so he’s not really sure what happens with his character.ASThe movie was 40 minutes over so they chopped off dialog across the board from everyone’s character, so to be honest I don’t know what’s left of it. I heard it was good, but I’m going to wait until the premiere and be stunned like the rest of the world.EMOk, I have to ask [TS], how did you get the scar?TSOh yeah, the scar. I got it in a bar fight in Louisiana….AS….Yeah, Travis likes to talk a lot of trash, so GK and I had to smack him around the set during filming. He got beat up by these 3 girls they came up and smacked him…TSThey were big girls!EMFor each of you, what are the 4 elements that make up a great horror film?NAOne is the lighting and style of the film.GKMusic and believability are very important.ASA nice part about it is the director/writer [Victor Salva] was very open to having us change the script to make it more realistic.EMIn the film you guys were all at the top your High School. What was your real life HS experience like?GKI was a chump and still a chump. Actually I grew up in Switzerland and the school system was different than it is here, we didn’t really have different groups of people, everyone got along well with everyone else.NAI’m from Oklahoma, I was not a Cheerleader.ASI missed a lot of HS [GK interrupts – you spent 6 years in HS!][NA yeah, you were on the 7 year plan.][AS responds, yeah I have two degrees from College.][GK – Devry doesn’t count.]and went to 4 different HS, and didn’t really come into my own until I entered the 12th grade.EMDid you guys do your own stunts?NAWe did a lot of our own running….ASWell that doesn’t qualify as a stunt. [TS, that’s a stunt for me!][GK, I was too precious to do stunts.]It’s really funny they had stunt doubles for some of us, and when you meet them, they turn out to be these 40 year old guys. They don’t really let you do anything because god forbid you break a nail or something.EMWhere do you think Jeepers Creepers 2 stand in the realm of this summer’s crop of horror films, and horror films in general?ASI want to take this one. I hate the fact that there’s a Jason Vs. Freddy. That was so long ago. There have already been like 50,000 Jasons’ and Freddys’, who wants to see that? Come and see this movie, the cast is great, the plot is great, it’s a lot of fun and I think this movie will do a lot better than those other ones.TSThat’s the only thing I’m scared of, that there have been so many bad horror films this year, that people will be scared to come and check this one out, it’s a really good flick that everyone should see.NAIt’s going to do very well, because it has a very loyal following who enjoyed the first one. It’s a continuation of the story, it starts the next day after the first one ends you get a lot more information about the Creeper, you get more information about what’s going on.
