Day two of Disney’s sold out D23 Expo is going to highlight the music of it’s legendary composers Alan Menken and Richard Sherman in what will most likely be one of the biggest events of the weekend. The word greats and especially “Legends” are thrown around a lot at Disney’s D23 Expo, but I don’t think those accolades do just to composers Alan Menken and Richard Sherman.

In many ways between the two of them, they ARE Disney. Everything that we love and respect about who and what Disney is and represents.  Innovation, compassion, creativity and vision.  Between these two guys I think you have pretty much the entire Disney Songbook.

Has won more Academy awards then any other living composer in Oscar history and is responsible for classics like Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Pocahontas, Hercules, Enchanted and a heck of a lot more. Richard Sherman has been at Disney for over 50 years and created the classic score for Mary Poppins, is responsible for Disney Themepark music – including the annoyingly catchy It’s A Small World, the amazing score for the video games Kingdom Hearts and more recent fair like Iron Man 2.

The concert is going to feature these two on the stage playing some of their greatest hits and telling stories about how some of these classic songs came together. I actually interviewed both of these guys a few days ago look for it early next week or later today.
