Fans will also be getting a special extra in the form of Riley’s First Date?, a short directed by Josh Cooley and produced by the Up and Inside Out team Pete Docter and Jonas Rivera. The short made its World Premiere at D23 Expo this afternoon.
The short revisits Riley, now 12, on the precipice of what might be her first date with the curly haired dude we briefly met at the skating rink in Inside Out (the boy whose emotions goes into ‘Red Alert!’ mode when he dropped his water bottle). His visit to the household puts Riley’s parents into overdrive, as they both try to deal with their many emotions at the possibility of their daughter’s first date. Dad (Kyle MacLachlan) and Mom (Diane Lane) both make fools of themselves in spectacular ways.
It’s a fun trifle and perhaps an indication that Pete Docter and Pixar aren’t done with the world of Inside Out, hardly a surprise given its financial success.
