COOL TECH: Apple Rocks the “Meh” at their annual Music Event

Wow, what a lame Press Conference from Apple today.  After the customary weeks of speculation Apple delivers a bland lineup of nothing new.  Just minor tweaks here and there. Let’s get to the “Mehlights:”

  • You can now share your playlists with your friends on Facebook
  • There’s a new Genius Mix function that will play “forever,” as opposed to the current Genius which is limited to 25 songs
  • Deluxe Albums will include things like Liner Notes, Photos, Videos, etc.
  • A streamlined interface (that looks the same to me)
  • iTunes Extras brings DVD Like Extras to iTunes Movie Rentals
  • New Navigation Enhancements

iPod Touch

  • New 64-Gig Model is the top line at $399
  • 32-Gig is now $299
  • 8-Gig Now $199
  • Now has the same CPU as the iPhone 3Gs. Still no Camera
  • Tons of new Games coming to the Platform
  • iPod Classic gets bumped to 160 Gigs, remains $249
  • Iphone/iPod Touch OS 3.1 Now available

iPod Nano Get a lot of nice Tweaks

  • Built in Voice Recording

  • New 5 Gig Model (Why bother?)
  • 8GB model will be $149 and the 16GB edition $179
  • 4GB Special Edition at $99
