NBC is expanding its Saturday Night Live app to close out the show’s fortieth season. The upgraded app expands to iPad and Android devices and includes hundreds of additional fan-requested sketches and new emojis.

The upgraded app comes as SNL’s final three shows of the season are about to debut – with Scarlett Johannson hosting on May 2nd, Reese Witherspoon hosting on May 9th and Louis CK hosting the season finale on May 16th.

Upgraded SNL App Features Hundreds of Additional Fan-Requested Sketches, New Emojis and More as It Extends to iPad ® and Android Devices

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. — May 1, 2015 – NBC Entertainment is expanding its acclaimed “Saturday Night Live” mobile video app as the popular comedy institution heads toward the finale of its landmark 40th season.

Showcasing four decades of comedy performances, the SNL app will be updated to expand its library with hundreds of classic sketches that have never been previously available online. In response to fan requests, the ever-growing library will now include segments featuring iconic characters such as the Gap Girls (Adam Sandler, David Spade, Chris Farley), the Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer (Phil Hartman) and more. The update also includes an enhanced emoji keyboard with 15 new emojis, remastered library sketches with improved picture quality and additional full episodes from the current season.

The app first became available for iPhone ® in February, and in the short time since has streamed over 100 million videos. Now the app will extend for the first time to the iPad ® and Android-powered devices. In addition, the updated app will be compatible with AirPlay, allowing users to enjoy and explore sketches on their Apple TV ®.

The SNL app update comes as the series is set to return this weekend for the first of its three final episodes of the season. The May 2 episode will be hosted by Scarlett Johansson; the May 9 episode will be hosted by Reese Witherspoon; and the May 16 season finale will be hosted by Louis CK.
