I’m glad to be finally hearing some news on the latest Batman installment. Christopher Nolan has been quietly keeping things under wraps for quite some. Well yesterday the Dark Knight director had spoken with Los Angeles Times and had revealed that the third Batman film will be called…..”THE DARK KNIGHT RISES“. Here’s another piece of information….Its been long rumored that the villian for this movie will in fact be the Riddler. It’s time to disspell that myth; Chris Nolan has also confirmed with L.A Times that “it won’t be the Riddler” and back in March Chris Nolan told L.A Times that “it won’t be Mr.Freeeze”. So we have several of the main villians out of the running. No Joker, Riddler, or Mr.Freeze. Who’s left? Will we see Catwoman, Penguin, bring back Scarecrow, or maybe Joker’s partner in crime Harley Quinn? We’ll have to wait and see.
Although we are currently unaware of the next villain(s) for The Dark Knight Rises, it was confirmed by deadline.com two weeks ago that Tom Hardy is in fact cast to play a role in the film. For those of you that don’t know, he was just in Chris Nolan’s latest movie Inception, and movies like Marie Antoinette, Star Trek: Nemesis, Black Hawk Down and is currently starring with Chris Pine and Reese Witherspoon in the McG-directed Fox-network comedy “This Means War”. Tom Hardy’s role is currently unknown for the third Batman film but director Chris Nolan had this to say, “We’ll use many of the same characters, and we’ll be introducing some new ones”. So he’ll either be playing a villian or have a good guy supporting role.
Finally for those of you that are wondering if the film will be shot in 3D, the answer is no. Christopher Nolan will continue to use high definition and IMAX cameras to film The Dark Knight Rises. Filming beings in March/April 2011 and will be released in July of 2012
