It’s Saint Patty’s Day, but one IDOL contestant won’t feel so lucky. Tonight is the end of the road for him or her. Last night I predicted that Andrew Garcia (pictured) was going home. You’ll have to keep reading to find out if I’m right. A great show ahead…David Cook, Orianthi and Ke$ha perform. PLENTY OF SPOILERS after the jump so quit reading now if you don’t want the results revealed. Now then, on with the show…
In keeping with The Rolling Stones theme from the night before former IDOL winner David Cook performs “Jumpin’ Jack Flash.” What the heck did he do to his hair? He looks like he’s having static electricity issues.
Quick commercial break and we are back with a commercial… Ryan reveals the latest Ford music video created by the Top 12, except for Casey James who had the flu when they shot the video. Then we see a video of the contestants designing Ford Fiesta cars. Whatever! Let’s get on with it.
First up, Paige Miles. She had laryingitis when she performed last. Ryan quickly reveals that she is in the bottom three tonight.
Lee DeWyze — The judges told him he needs to open up more. Ryan tells him he’ll have time to do that. He’s safe.
Siobhan Magnus — Siobhan was the clear winner last night with the best performance. She is safe and will return next week.
Aaron Kelly — Aaron was applauded for picking the best song suited for him. Ryan reveals he too is safe.
Andrew Garcia and Tim Urban — Andrew I predicted is going home. Tim did a mediocre version of his song, but I think the girls are keeping him alive. Ryan quickly reveals that Andrew is safe and Tim is in the bottom three. So I’m wrong this week. Who will it be???
So far the two of the bottom three are Paige Miles and Tim Urban. I would prefer to see Tim go before Paige.
Back from commercial and it’s time for Orianthi to perform her song, “According To You.” She’s got the Beyonce fan going blowing her blond hair. She has a great, gritty rocker voice. Ryan interviews her after the performance and we learn she was slated to perform with Michael Jackson on his “This Is It” concert series.
Another break and it’s time for more reveals. Next up, DiDi Benami who performed really well last night and was praised for it. She is safe for another week.
Crystal Bowersox — Her performance wasn’t amazing, but still very good; good enough to keep her another week. She is safe.
Katie Stevens –After a lengthy discussion of what style she should be singing, Ryan tells her she is safe.
Michael Lynch –He’s also safe.
Casey James and Lacey Brown — It has to be Lacey in the bottom three. Very quickly Ryan reveals that Casey is safe and Lacey is in the bottom three.
Paige Miles, Tim Urban and Lacey Brown… The judges have the option to save one contestant and Simon reveals one of them is worth saving. But Ryan is going to send one of them back to their seats and it’s Tim Urban. He seems shocked. So it will either be Paige or Lacey. I really think it’s Lacey. I hope it’s Lacey.
Commercial break and it’s Ke$ha featuring 303 singing “Blah Blah Blah.” How studio produced can one be? She talks through most of the song and on the vocals she is so heavily backed with effects, it’s ridiculous. She also comes across as a Lady Gaga wanna be when she shows up wearing a Native American headdress in the middle of the song. In a few years, no one will know her.
Commercial break and reveal time… Paige or Lacey. Lacey, please!!! And the person fighting for the chance to stay is…LACEY BROWN. Paige is safe. Yes!
Lacey sings and the judges must decide if they will save her. I say, “No.” Simon reveals it’s unanimous that they will NOT save Lacey. She’s out.
And then there were 11. Next week’s theme is rumored to be iTunes related. Tune in next Tuesday to find out. Until then…MENDHEIM OUT!
