The True Hollywood Story of Kara DioGuardi

Kara DioGuardi has been ruling the Billboard charts for years as the woman behind the music. Having penned hits for Pink, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera to name a few, Kara is one of the most in-demand songwriters in the business today. Thrown into the spotlight as a judge on American Idol, the world met Kara without realizing she had already been in their homes, on their iPods and through their radios for years. Still, despite DioGuardi’s significant contribution to pop, her life story has remained a mystery – until now. For the first time ever on television, in an intimate and personal interview, DioGuardi opens up to E! about her long journey towards success. American Idol Recap

Haven’t talked much about this year’s Idol. The talent is probably the best they have had in years, but I still hate the theme weeks. I don’t get the whole Casey Abrams or Paul McDonald thing. My pick for this year is the howdy doody, Tom Hank’s love child Scotty. Here’s a recap from this week’s Elton John night.

Ellen and Kara Booted from American Idol!

Ellen Degeneres made the announcement official, she is leaving American Idol. TMZ is reporting that Kara Dioguardi is also out (although that announcement isn’t official)? leaving the Dog Pound and Randy Jackson the last man standing. Yo, Dog, that’s hot! Not. Ellen said she had trouble criticizing the singers and in her official statement that the show wasn’t a good fit for her. I, personally, thought she and Simon were the ONLY things I liked about last season. Rumor has it they are going with J. Lo and Steven Tyler to be the new Judges.  Yes they have the music cred but do they really have the personality to be reality TV Show judges for 20 some odd weeks? I don’t think so.  Unless EM can find someone to follow IDOL next year, I doubt we’ll have the snarky weekly coverage you expect from us, because I bailed on the show.

TELEVISION: American Idol Recap (05.26.10 Finale)

Season 9 of AMERICAN IDOL is about to come to an end.  Who will wear the crown?  It’s mom and indy girl Crystal Bowersox versus former paint store guy and rocker Lee DeWyze.  Everyone pretty much agrees that Crystal took the night last night, but that doesn’t always translate into a win.

Also tonight, Simon Cowell’s swan song.  We say goodbye to Mr. Cowell and perhaps goodbye to IDOL.  How does it come back with no Simon?  That’s a question for another day.  On with the show…

Ryan tells us at the top of the show that before the finale there was only a 2% difference between Crystal and Lee.  VERY CLOSE.

TELEVISION: American Idol Recap (05.25.10)

THIS IS IT!  We are down to Lee and Crystal.  Both age 24, both from the Chicago auditions.  Who will become the next American Idol???  Odds on favorite is Lee DeWyze.  Lee was also named favored to win by Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson.  Will that cause Crystal’s fans to come out in force?  We shall see.  Now, this would be the night that my cable box goes absolutely haywire so I’m not sure it will make it through the whole show, but I’m gonna try.

Tonight the IDOL are singing their favorite song from the competition, a song chosen by IDOL EP Simon Fuller and lastly the song they will release if they win.  Those are usually cheesy horrible songs that nobody likes (or remembers).  So on with the show.

Crystal won the coin toss and she chose to go second, so Lee kicks things off tonight.

TELEVISION: American Idol Recap (05.19.10)

Last night was, without a doubt, Lee DeWyze’s night.  Both of his performances were just spectacular.  He proved he is in this competition to win it.  His rivals, favorite Crystal Bowersox and some guy named Casey James.  I refer to Casey that was because last night he was out of his league.  He simply should not have made it this far in the competition, so I expect him to go home tonight.  On with tonight’s show.  I suspect we’ll see more of their hometown visits and, unfortunately for us, Justin Bieber is performing.  On with the show… AFTER THE JUMP.
