Tonight is it! The Top 12 is revealed and a MAJOR UPSET is coming. This is important because this is the last week the sexes are separated. It’s also important because this moment becomes the game changer. Their venue gets bigger. The contestants get to use a stylist to help shape their images. And of course, next week they begin competing against each other in theme weeks. Next week’s theme week is rumored to be…get this…THE ROLLING STONES. Will the infamous Stones be there to mentor? We shall see.
Meanwhile, back to tonight. To recap, my predictions for who I think is going home tonight: Paige Miles, Katie Stevens, Andrew Garcia and Toddrick Hall. We’ll see if I come close. Last week I was 3 out of 4 and I readily admit that I am not sure about the guys tonight. To make matters worse, Ryan Seacrest teases at the top of the show that “we could be in for a surprise or two.” Oy! Full details and who’s going home…after the jump.
The show begins with a group song, Michael Buble’s “I Haven’t Met You Yet.” Like all of the group performances, this one sucked! I really wish they would kill these. I would rather a see a recap from the two nights before. The group has no rhythm and the choreography (and it’s a stretch calling it that) is horrendous.
After a commercial break, Ryan confirms THE ROLLING STONES is next week’s theme. Interesting.
Elimination time…
DiDi Benami — is the first to move into the Top 12.
Siobhan Magnus — is also in the Top 12.
Paige Miles and Katelyn Epperly — one of them makes it, the other does not. I predicted Paige would be going home. However, I am wrong. Paige makes it. Katelyn Epperly is OUT!
Tim Urban, Toddrick Hall, Lee DeWyze and Casey James are all lined up. I predict Toddrick is going home.
Casey James is the first guy to make the Top 12.
Tim Urban also makes the Top 12.
It’s down to Toddrick and Lee. If Lee goes home that will be a shocker. After several moments, Ryan announces that Lee DeWyze is safe and Toddrick Hall is OUT!
I am 1 for 2 right now. More after the quick commercial break.
Scott McIntyre and Matt Geraud from last season are brought back to perform “Tell Her About It” while both play the piano. WHY??? GOD, PLEASE TELL ME WHY? Quite honestly, we forgot about them up until this moment. This is just another Idol time waster and a good time for a bathroom break.
Back to more eliminations…
Crystal Bowersox — She’s a shoe in for the Top 12. And she makes it.
Michael Lynche — Another shoe in for the Top 12. Ryan asks, “Do you think you can fit on one stool? Go check it out!” He makes it.
Lacey Brown — makes it to the Top 12.
Aaron Kelly — Also makes it to the Top 12.
That leaves Alex Lambert and Andrew Garcia. I predicted Andrew would be going home. I am wrong. Andrew makes it. Alex Lambert is OUT! That’s a surprise. I thought for sure the young girls would keep Alex there. I am 1 for 3. Ugh.
While Alex sings that leaves us with Lilly Scott and Katie Stevens. I predicted Katie was going home, but it would be a big upset if Lilly goes home. We’ll find out after the commercial break.
We come to a stage full of people and Alex Lambert crying. Poor guy! The stage is cleared and it’s down to Katie and Lilly. After a grueling few moments… Ryan announces that Katie Stevens makes the Top 12. MAJOR UPSET! Lilly Scott is OUT!
That is the Top 12. Next week, we shift to guys and gals together and two nights per week and it all begins Tuesday night with the first theme: THE ROLLING STONES. Until then, MENDHEIM OUT!!!
